weight?
sleeping habits?
eating habits?

DD is 1 month today and roughly 9lbs - 7.6lbs at birth

she is taking 4oz of formula every 3-4hr during the day and every 5-6hr at night.

she seems to sleep short cap naps during the day (maybe 1-1.5 hours) and then gets really sleepy in the late afternoon and sleeps most of the early evening into the night, sleeps until 9-10am! (wakes 1-2 times per night for bottles).

wondering how everyone else is doing Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

moms of newborns?!

ds was 6 weeks yesterday. he was 8 lbs 10 oz at birth and was 10 lbs 5 ox last week. he takes 4-4.5 oz of bm every 3-4 hours during the day and gives me a 6-7 hour stretch at night which is fantastic. he was diagnosed with a milk protein allergy nearly 2 weeks ago which has been challenging. time is going by way too fast already :(

Re: moms of newborns?!

Good idea! It'll be great to read all the updates.

DD is 2 months today. She weighed 7.65lb at birth, and as of yesterday, is 10.1lb.

She feeds every 4 hours, and eats anywhere between 4 - 6 oz per bottle. Her last bottle is at 11pm, and then she sleeps until 7am. She's been sleeping in her crib since the beginning, although some daytime naps are in the swing or stroller bassinet. Her longest nap is after the 7am feed, and is 1.5 - 2 hours. The rest of her naps are a little shorter.

I cannot believe how fast time is flying. I go back to work in 3 weeks. Chat Icon

My twins are 11 weeks. Ds sleeps about 6 hours a night on average but hes done longer. Dd averages 7-8 (and what a difference that one hour makes)
They eat every 2-4 hours but end up eating 25 oz/day. I'm exclusively pumping and occasionally nursing them and supplementing with formula. They're starting to stay awake more throughout the day so its a new challenge to learn when they're tired or hungry.
3 weks ago they were 10.5 lbs each and I'm guessing they're closer to 12 now (based on how much my back hurts!)
Otherwise they're soooo chunky and yummy and it takes all my strength to not gobble them up!

My DD is 6 weeks.
Weighed 8lbs, 6oz at birth, was 9lbs 11 oz at her last Dr visit.
She eats every 2.5-3 hrs during the day and averages about 4.5 oz per feeding. She is FF.
She cat naps during the day for maybe 1 hour, 2 hours if I'm lucky, but she is sleeping great at night. Goes to bed everynight by 7:15 and wakes once between 12-2 for a bottle, then up for the day between 6-7.

Re: moms of newborns?!

DD will be 1 month tomorrow.

She was born at 7.8....dropped to 7 at her first ped appt...and then 7.7 the following week. I don't know how much she currently weighs since her 1 month visit is Wed.

She eats 3-4oz of breast milk from a bottle every 2-3 hours....and also nurses sometimes inbetween. I think she nurses more for comfort then really for a feeding.

I wake her up during the day every 2 to 2 1/2 hours to eat....otherwise she could go like 3 or 4 hours sleeping. She has bad gas and sometimes stays up crying so by the time we get her to "bed for the night" it may be 11 or 12 at night. She will wake herself up to eat about every 2-3 hours still. Rarley does she sleep 4 or 5 when she should be at night.

I am hoping by waking her up during the day she will start to learn the difference between days and nights...but not sure if she has gotten that down yet.

moms of newborns?!

Is my baby still a newborn? DS just turned 3 months. He was born at 8lbs even and now he's 12lbs (50%tile exactly!). He has been STTN since he was about 4 weeks old and eats 4-6oz every 3-4 hours

Age- DS will be 4 weeks on Sunday

Weight- 6.10 at birth, 6.14 last week

Sleeping Habits- He naps on and off during the day, usually with one good 3 hour nap from 12ish-3ish. I wake him after 3 hours becuase I'm trying to get him to go longer at night. During the night he's up basically every 3 hours like clockwork then does a 4 hour stretch from 5-9am.

Eating Habits- We're EBF and I BF on demand. During the day I make sure he eats at least every 3 hours but often he'll eat every 1-2 hours. At night it's basically every 3 hours, occasionally every 4. I wish he'd go longer at night but I realize that isn't that likely with a BF baby. I can always hope though . . .

moms of newborns?!

To the moms of babies that are STTN already or at least sleeping long stretches at night, how did you get them to do that? Did you follow some sort of feeding routine during the day?

I think its sheer luck. However if I feed one at 8 they fall asleep for the night till about 4. If I feed them at 11 (evennif its just to wake them for 2oz) theyll sleep till 5-6.

Re: moms of newborns?!

My DD will be 7 weeks tomorrow. Her birth weight was 5.9 and 2 weeks ago she was at 7.8.
She sleeps during the day on and off. After I take her a bathe around 12pm she will sleep for 3 hours. I'm EBF so I feed her every 2.5-3 hours. At night is the same story. She wakes up every 2.5-3 hours to eat. Takes me about an hour to feed her and put her back down. So I'm not getting much sleep at night.

For those of you whose baby sleep long period during the night, I envy you. Please share your secret.

Her last feeding is at 11pm and she will wake up at 2am to feed again, and 2.5-3 hours after that. I'm exhausted.

moms of newborns?!

age-- DS is 3 weeks old today

weight -- 9lbs at birth, 9lbs 2oz at 2 week appointment

sleeping habits -- he sleeps A LOT during the day and not so much at night. He is up for 2-3 hrs when we want him to go to bed (at least he stopped screaming!) and wakes every 2-3 hrs at night. Last night he went down at 11 and woke up at 130 & then 5. He gets up for the day around 6 and stays up until 10.

eating habits -- he eats 3-4oz every 2-3 hrs. I don't know how to make him eat more in a sitting so he goes longer...Tips would be helpful!!!!!!

It might have been a fluke...he was on a pretty routine schedule by 7 weeks. Some things I did was kept it bright and noisy during the day. I made his last bottle a little bigger so it would hold him over through the entire night.

moms of newborns?!

DD will be 11wks tomorrow, it's crazy how time flies!

She was 6lb, 3oz at birth and 9lb 10oz at her 2 mo checkup on Feb 11, I imagine she's at least 10lbs now.

She is EBF and I feed on demand, but she essentially STTN and has been for at least a month. We bath her around 730pm and then I feed her, put her down between 8-815 and she'll sleep until 230-330, feed for 20 min, then sleep another 3-4 hrs. I actually feel like I get more sleep now than I did before since I'm not getting up at 530 to go to work! That changes soon though, I can't believe I go back to work Mar 6.

She took her first plane trip to Florida on Wednesday and was an amazing flyer, didn't make a peep. She's even kept her sleeping schedule down here despite being in a new environment, I feel so lucky. I'm gonna miss her when I go back to work!!!

Dd was 2 months on Tuesday. Weighed 6-12 when born, 9-8 today, 23 inches long. Drinks 2-3 oz. every 3.5 to 4 hrs. Either sleeps through the night or hs one wake up at 2:30-ish.

She is taking roughly hour and a half naps, is otherwise very playful and smily! She rolled over yesterday and today! Crib coming soon...!

We had a baby nurse for the first two weeks, and she helped put DD on a feeding schedule early on. I only fed on demand the first few days, then switched to scheduled feedings. At 5 weeks, I started giving DD formula for her 11pm "dream feed" and within a few days, she started STTN. I wake her up at 7am for breakfast.

She's now 9 weeks, so hoping this STTN pattern continues.

I think it's just luck in my case. I make sure I feed ds every 3-4 hours during the day even if it means waking him up. I only sleep him in his rock and play at night, not for naps. I also swaddle him with his arms out only at night. he goes from about 1130/12-630 this way

Re: moms of newborns?!

DS will be 8 weeks on Tuesday.

On 2/4 he was 22 inches and weighed 9.14lbs. We go back on 3/10 for his shots and a 2 month check up.

He sleeps all the time, but not through the night yet. He will take a bottle at around 11:30 wake up at 4:00 and then wake up at 8:00.

He eats 6 oz every 4 - 5 hours.

Our pediatrician said they know when they are hungry and when they are full. He said if they don't want any more then don't try to force it. Their bellies are small right now. Soon enough he will be eating more and going longer without a feeding. At 3 weeks my DS was eating pretty much the same. He only just started going every 4-5 hours and he will be 8 weeks on Tuesday.
