Optimum vs Fios

I'm thinking of switching due to the price difference. We have Fios triple play and its up to $140.00 It looks like we can get a better deal with Optimum but I'm worried about the quality, Internet speed, voice quality etc.

Please share your Experience with Optimum, espwcially if you switched from Fios. Thanks

After going to FIOS, i will never go back to Optimum no matter what the price.

You said it in your own post, you are afraid of speed and quality and sometimes, you have to "pay" for a quality product.

I go where the money is.

I switch and when my special pricing is up.. I switch back.

But.. to be completely honest.. television is not the sum and substance of my existance so I can barely tell any difference in quality between the two services.

I will NEVER go back to optimum. Fios is worth a few extra $$ IMO

Before we moved to an Optimum-only zone (aka Town of Brookhaven), we had Fios. I would do anything to be able to switch to Fios. Optimum sucks so bad.

When we lived in our apartment we had optimum and then when we bought our house we got FIOS. We will never go back to optimum.

We had switched back to optimum after our fios bill went up and it was painful. We stayed with optimum only as long as it took Verizon to give us a decent deal and then we switched back. It took about three months. This was over a year ago so I don't know if optimum has upgraded anything since then.

I've had both and FIOS is way better than Optimum. I haven't had any problems with FIOS as opposed to all the problems I've had with Optimum. Yes FIOS is more money but worth it in the end.

i switched from fios to optimum to save $.
WORST mistake i ever made.
DVR never worked properly and they couldn't fix it.
over charged us for a box we never had.
it was a NIGHTMARE. i called up fios and was able to get a better deal and switched back.
now every time optimium calls me i tell them they could give it to me for free and i still wouldn't take it.
FIOS 100%!!!

Love Fios. I will never go back to Optimum. A company that still, to this day, sends their employees door to freaking door loses my business! So annoying and so pushy!
Fios is definitely quicker and I feel there are more choices.

We love FiOS and would never go back to optimum regardless of how cheap the price is. We had too many problems with optimum and the customer service was nothing to write home about

I don't have FIOS by me but we switched back to Optimum after using DirectTv for a while.........the Triple Play price was waaaaaay to good to pass up. Our first year was $65/month for all the three services!!!!

Overall, we are happy with Cablevision. The Internet speed is aways good, no complaints there. TV is TV, we get our channels and shows and it's fine. The phone service is fine, I prefer non VOIP because I just think the quality is a little better, but overall it's fine. Initially it had some bugs, we kept hearing echoes on the line, it rang randomly, calls were breaking up in bad weather buuuuuut it seems like they have worked that out because it has been working good the past few months.

Ultimately, it saved us SO much money every month that is was a hard deal to pass up so we made the switch. We figured we could always switch back but so far everything is fine with Optimum so we are keeping them for now.

ETA - Their DVRs are total $hit, I haaaaaated them so we bought a TIVO again like we use to have. That was a MUST have for me to make the switch.

I never had Fios.
And I feel we're the only ones on the board that never had issues with Optimum.

Overall, I prefer FiOS (mainly for what they offer on TV). I've had both though and never had major issues with Optimums phone or internet (I actually prefer Optimum for phone than FiOS since they have more features).

We switched from Fios to Optimum for the price and the free kindle hd. Worst mistake ever. Optimum $ucks in the worst way. We are going back to Fios on March 9th. It can't come fast enough.
