Murphy is 10! (long story with tons of pics)
Happy Birthday to my 1st "son"
Yesterday was Murphy's 10th birthday and I have no idea where 10 years has gone. When DH and I decided to get a dog, we looked in shelters and at NSAL but since we lived in a 1 bedroom apartment, we needed to know how large the dog was going to get and none of the shelter puppies were purebreed dogs so there were no guarantees. So we went the breeder route and based on our lives, we decided a Jack Russell was the perfect fit.
I did TONS of research (almost as much planning as when I planned my wedding) and found the perfect breeder.
When the breeder let us know she had a litter that was 3 weeks old and 2 of the puppies were still available, we went that following day.
This is me holding Murphy and his mom, Skye is in the crate. It was literally love at first sight!
Now I had to wait 5 whole weeks to bring home my puppy! But it was worth the wait!

We tried the show circuit when he was 6 months old. He got a ribbon in conformation and did amazing in the "go to ground" trial as well. But we decided not to breed him and Murphy got "snipped"
My DH is a police officer and being a cop's wife is very lonely but Murphy kept me company and really became my best friend. I would come home from work and go right to the dog park or take a walk. Anything to bond with him and release some of that famous (or infamous) Jack Russell energy!
When we bought our house Murphy was just about 3 years old and with a large, fenced yard, he became a different and dare I say it? A better dog!
My DS came along 5 years ago and Murphy got bumped down the totem pole and I cant say that he has even now forgiven me for bringing DS into his world but for the "abuse" my son gives to my dog, Murphy has never growled, snipped, bitten or anything. I always joke that if I were Murphy, DS would be handless by now. But Murphy shows amazing patience and smarts (by hiding under the bed when DS teases him too much). But they are definitely buddies most of the time.
Murphy is now in his senior years, and the gray face shows it. But I cherish every moment and every memory I have from the past 10 years and I hope there will be thousands more memories to be made with him.

Oh my God I'm crying. I love Murphy!!!! Before I met him, I was afraid of dogs  but Murphy changed that about me! Happy 10th Birthday sweet Murphy! :hugs:

Reminds me of me and my dogs. The memories, the pictures and bringing them home when they were so small.
