Early intervention?
My 9.5 month old is a bit behind with gross motor, but is still progressing. My ped wants me to call her in 2 more weeks (when he is 10 months) and if he hasn't started to pull up, call EI. I don't know if I should even bother waiting 2 more weeks or not. He is rolling, sitting unassisted but is unable to get on hands/knees, sitting from laying or pulling up. But he is making improvements. We are in NJ if that makes a difference. WWYD?

Early intervention?
I'm not sure the rules in NJ but I work for EI on Long Island and you do NOT need to wait for you Peditirican. You can make the referral yourself. As for if you should wait, that is up to you. The chance of him qualifying on LI would be low. The guidelines are tough especially under 12 months. My DS wasn't crawling or rolling by 9 months. I called my Agency and the PT told me to give it another month before calling EI. I did and my DS was crawling and pulling to stand a week later :) It really depends on your gut instinct. It can't hurt to call and make the referral if you feel you are at that point. Good Luck!

I say go with your gut - if you think there's def an issue, call an EI. If not, wait another week or two to decide.
Sorry that this doesn't exactly help.

I called EI for my DD at 10 months, also for gross motor skills. She was sitting up, and that's about it. She wasn't rolling, trying to crawl, or pulling up. From the initial call to the evaluation took about two weeks and then getting her set up for PT took a few more weeks. It was over a month between the initial call and when she started therapy, so I would just go ahead and call.

Im in nj and DS started EI at 2 and now at 3.5 he's in the special Ed preschool program at the local public school.
First off... You don't need to wait for your Ped. I say call now bc it could take a couple of weeks before you get the eval. Eval doesn't cost anything, but depending on your household income in nj you may have to pay some. It depends. Also, it is easier to qualify for EI in nj than it is in ny.
