Because people like to put words into other peoples mouths and/or lump together everyone with a similar opinion.

Re: Curious: The Flu

I think everyone wants to do what they feel is the "right" thing for them and so they feel the need to justify their decision when someone else does the opposite. Nobody wants to feel like maybe they did the wrong thing and somehow jeopardized the health of their family.

I didn't get the shot for reasons I stated earlier, but I am constantly reading about the shot (including threads like this) just to hear different opinions and to be honest, now I'm kind of on the fence about whether I'll get it next year.

The problem is that nobody has ALL the facts and NOBODY is absolutely, objectively "right" so you can't win the argument either way.

Yes flu shot, no flu.

I've posted this before on another thread, but I can't think of any reason why someone wouldn't get the flu shot.
If someone had a bad experience with it in the past either a) they were already sick and the flu shot made it worse because the body can't fight 2 things like that at a time. Or b) the had a reaction from the mercury in the shot and in the future should get the one with no mercury.

The only reaction at the majority of people have is a little soreness at the injection site.

To me the end justifies the means.

I'd rather not inject additives, preservatives and adjuvants directly into my bloodstream. Plus, there are no studies/testing (that I'm aware of) indicating that repeated exposure to the flu shot does not increase your chances of developing chronic illness later in life.

exactly! the ends to not justify the means to me! I can't even remember the last time I even took an anit-botic or the last time I got sick

\

Same. I have never gotten the flu and never got the shot. I will not inject that into my body or my child's. I really don't get sick. I get a cold once or twice a year.

Not arguing that aluminum isn't abundant however, ALL aluminum present in vaccines enters the bloodstream immediately versus when you consume through food or breastmilk/formula less than 1 percent of aluminum present in food is absorbed through the intestines into the blood. The potential danger is that when children are young, their blood brain barrier is still open and SOME children may be predisposed to being harmed.

When you ingest it you have the benefit of your kidneys filtering it out of your system.

Not looking to argue or point fingers at anyone. I'm just hopeful that based on the many FMs I've received that people are at least thinking about this.

Thank you for saying what I would have said. What you ingest is NOT the same as something directly injected into your body.

Of course not, the GI tract acts as a natural filter. That being said aluminum is only an issue when it reaches toxic levels since it is a naturally occurring element. When you bypass the intestinal tract it becomes an issue if the kidneys cannot properly filter it due to a renal issue for instance. Otherwise, the amount of aluminum is quite minuscule. I feel comfortable with it, you may not but I think when you make a statement about aluminum and how scary it is without providing a complete picture to others it looks like an agenda is being pushed.

Everything can be skewed. Years ago there was a study about the dangers of sunscreen, I asked my dermatologist about it. He is not only a well regarded clinician but also a research scientist who happened to work at the National Institute of Cancer at the time of the study. He proceeded to go through the study with me and described how flawed the process was and how the mice used were genetically engineered to get cancer anyway.

My point is that you can find scary information about everything on the Internet but none of it is black and white.

I have to agree. You gave your opinion.... MANY times. Maybe bow out gracefully.

Re: Curious: The Flu

All I've got to say is that I hope the Cootie shot doesn't have any long-term side effects. I had quite a few of them when I was young.... Chat Icon Chat Icon I think I might have still gotten Cooties a couple of times, too....
There's no oversight in who can give the Cootie shot, no maximums set on how many you can have. Most of the time, I got the "circle, circle, dot dot, now you've got the Cootie shot" version, but is that the best one? Is it the safest one? I honestly never did any research at that age...... Re: Curious: The Flu

This thread just got out of hand.....it all started with a simple question about the flu shot and getting the flu. Others decided to talk about vaccines, and Autism and chelation.

You really should have done your research because then you would have found that the "dot dot" version of the cootie shot only covers that one area whereas the "square square" version covers "everywhere".

Re: Curious: The Flu

I am all for vaccines for many things but refuse to get the flu shot for myself or my son. I trust our immune systems csn handle what's around us at this point. If we get sick, we get sick. Stress weakens your immune system more than anything else. If you get sick that's your body telling you to take a break. Sheesh.... I wish I could legitimately take a few days off from work.... But my strong like bull constitution refuses!!!
