Re: Preschool- # of days for 3 yr old

I think it depends on the school. Different ones have different times, different days, etc.
DS is 26 months now- so he'll turn 3 in November. I've been looking at preschools for him. a lot of the ones I've seen have only part days for the three year olds. Some daycares offer preschool programs, with a longer day. so they would do the more formal school part in the mornings, and then the rest of the day is more just daycare. so if you're looking for full day it would probably be something like that.
The preschool I'm looking at for DS is at a church ( but its not a religious preschool). Their "3"s class is 2 days a week, for 2 1/2 hours a day. Like i said, he won't be 3 till November, so he'll be one of the youngest probably.... but i think he'll do well, and
the socializing and stuff will be good for him.

Re: Preschool- # of days for 3 yr old

DS' school only offers 2.5 hrs x day, either 2 or 3 days per week for 3 year olds. I chose only 2 days for DS.

DD did 3 days and I think it was perfect for her. I think 5 would have been too exuasting for her.

Dd will most likely go 3 days 9-1. She's going now, just started this week, 2 days 9-1. the director suggested 3 days when they are 3 for more of consistency int heir schedule

Re: Preschool- # of days for 3 yr old

At 3 the ones in our town do 3 or 4 days. I opted for 3 b/c my DD is the youngest and wasn't in daycare so it was hard for me too for the adjustment. Well she was fine I wasn't hahah lol

Next year at 4 she will do 4 days. Chat Icon

ETA They are not full days just 9-11:30

Re: Preschool- # of days for 3 yr old

DD is in nursery school and she goes 2x a week for 3hrs. Come fall for Pre-K, I am planning on sending her for 3hrs 5x a week. I think she needs the structure and habit from going 5 days a week.

Thank you for all of your responses. I was debating between sending him 2 full days a week, and the rest to day care OR daily prek. I see that at 3 , many of you have opted for the shorter days/shorter week. I guess that answers my Q!

3 day 21/2 -3 hours a day. Some are sending their kids 6 hours 5 days a week that wouldn't be pre school that would be considered day-care. 3 days/ 21/2 hours a week is probably good, but it depends on your child and what your family situation is.

we only did 2.5 hours, 3 times a week. my son still took long naps then so there was no reason to send him all day for us. Chat Icon
