have you ever heard of gender determination at 15 weeks being wrong?

We've had a gender sonogram done at 15 weeks/ 14w 6 days at an elective place. We were told it's a boy. My ob will do the nt scan at 20 weeks and will tell us gender then. I've been reading articles online that have stated that 15 weeks is too early to determine 100%. Could they have been wrong?
Any thoughts?

You're talking about something that has a 50/50 chance here. They can definitely be wrong at this stage, but you're talking about something that has one of two options. I definitely wouldn't go registering or buying paint colors till your anatomy scan, just in case.

I agree too but I was told boy at 15 weeks and it was confirmed at 20. I didn't buy anything until then.

I think most people go by the 20w anatomy scan since 15w is still a little early. They could be right at 15w but odds are better for a more accurate prediction at 20w.

I think when it's that early, there is never a 100% guarantee. If you look at the website for the elective place, there is probably a disclaimer that says that. I went at 16 weeks and was told boy. Then, since they didn't get great pictures, I went back at 17 weeks (and 18 weeks because LO is uncooperative) to get better pictures and boy was confirmed both of those times. Boy was also confirmed at my 20 week scan and one more after that. So, I'm pretty confident!

I know there have been a few people on this board who were told one gender and it was the other when they went for an anatomy scan. Like a pp said, don't start painting the nursery yet, but I think you can rest easy if you get a second sono saying boy! Do you have a clear picture that shows what they're talking about? That would make me feel better too!!

I was told at 15 weeks and have had three sono's since then and all are saying the same sex still. I'm almost 28 weeks now.

A friend was told a boy, and a few weeks later they revised it to girl (which it is).

Def can be wrong at 15W. At 20W you will know for sure!!! That's when DH and I will be registering for places for our shower!

Any of the sono's can be wrong, the only way to know 100% is the amnio.

That being said I know someone who knew what all of her kids were at 12-13 weeks. And the dr was right all 5 times.

I think at any point it could be wrong... most of the time they are accurate at the 20 week sono. However I know two family members who were told one thing at the 20 week scan and ended up having the opposite! (my sister for example was told she was having another girl... she had a c section recently and they pulled out my nephew!)

15wks is very early. The elective sono place by me won't even do them until 16 weeks.

It's very possible it will end up being wrong.

Re: have you ever heard of gender determination at 15 weeks being wrong?

I was told at 12 weeks, 15 and then 20 weeks it was a boy (I'm expecting twins but only one was cooperating). And they were right...both boys. But up until 20ish weeks you never know bc females can be "swollen" until then.
