*Update* RE - advice

Hi all! My gyno referred me to an RE who I meet with for the first time tonight. I'm really nervous and scarred of what will be said. My gyno thinks I'm not ovulating and of course being told I need an RE to help DH and I get pregnant made me immediately think I'll never have kids. My friends keep telling me it will happen when its right.

Any advice for what to expect with the RE tonight? I'm hoping I don't have PCOS but have read that many women with PCOS had had beautiful babies. I know there is hope but just wish it wasn't this difficult.

**Update - Dr. Mullins is great and very nice! I liked that she was very open and explained everything very well. She didn't want to overwhelm DH and I and just fed us the information in small amounts. She did bloodwork on both of us, sono on me, and DH has to do a SA. During the sono I was nervous as she saw the "string of pearls". She believes I have PCOS but waiting on the bloodwork. She seemed pretty confident that she can help get me pregnant. I am trying to keep an open positive mind about all this and hoping we are able to get pregnant and have a succcessful and healthy pregnancy. Just hoping nothing else shows up in all the bloodwork!

RE - advice

An RE is the best place for a woman with Pcos. There are many ways to go about getting pregnant. Take a deep breath and remember you are doing things the best you know how. It's a a lot to take in at first. Did they take blood work? Do you have a follow up? Best wishes!

Re: RE - advice

Tonight is my first time meeting with Dr. Mullin. So no bloodwork or follow-up yet. I asked my gyno if I had PCOS but she kept telling me that she isn't seeing that and doesn't think so. I'm hoping Dr. Mullin will be able to give me real answers and help DH and I get that BFP.

Re: RE - advice

PCOS on its own (meaning with no other issues) is one of the most common issues and easiest to treat! Good luck at your appointment!

Re: RE - advice

I know how you feel, I had my first appt with Dr. Mullin last month and she is fantastic! At my first appt DH and I met with her and went over our history and my symptoms (no period/ovulation). She then did blood work on both of us and a sonogram on me. She put me on medicine to make me get my period, I had to go for more blood work and a hysterosalpingogram. DH had to do an SA. We actually go back Wednesday for all our results.

Just thought that might help you with what to expect. Dr. Mullin is really sweet and easy to talk to, I think you will be happy with her.

Lots of luck to you on your journey, I hope you have a BFP soon!

RE - advice

I was the same way when I was first referred to RE. I was terrified of not being able to have kids! I ended up diagnosed with PCOS. My RE helped DH & I and we're now 23 weeks pregnant with our first! It wasn't easy (TTC isn't for most people of course) between the early morning appointments, meds, failed cycles, and money....but it was 100% worth it.

10 cycles. 1st didn't work due to a wrong dosage of meds, 3 medicated with timed intercourse and 6 medicated IUIs.
