Anyone else's toddler get upset when you sing Happy Birthday??
DS is turning 2 next week so we've been practicing singing happy birthday and blowing out candles. He gets so upset as soon as we start singing. He did this a couple of times at other birthdays and I thought maybe he didn't like the candles or the dark but I really think its the song. Any one else go through this?

Anyone else's toddler get upset when you sing Happy Birthday??
Our ds had the same problem...he would yell and scream, even swing at me...we tried so many things...at 3 1/2 he finally has calmed down...but I still can't sing along to it or clap

Yes! Well, if we sing it just us and he sings, he's ok. But once it's a crowd of people, he gets upset and if they clap/cheer, he starts crying. I really think that all the commotion scares him. He'll be 3 in Oct and has gotten better - at a party last Sat where they didn't clap/cheer too loudly he was ok but a few days earlier when he sang and people clapped for him, he cried.

My DD hates it! She's 3.
