Baptism/Christening questions!
OK, I have 2 questions regarding baptisms!
1) Is it customary for the godfather to pay for the ceremony, and the godmother to pay for the gown? That’s what SIL told me. I had heard of the godmother thing before, but not the godfather.
2) Did you give your child a gift or keepsake for their baptism? What did you give?

1) DS's godmother paid for outfit and godfather gave him a cross. The ceremony did not cost a certain amount, we just gave a donation to the church.
2) Other people gave him a Lennox cross, crib medal and first bible. So we donated money in his name to St. Jude's Children Hospital.

1. My BIL and SIL were the godparents so they bought DS his outfit, shoes and cross. I did not think they should be paying for the party or making the donation to the church.
2. As for the gift, I figured the party was our gift to him since it was costly.

Baptism/Christening questions!
I've heard of godfather getting a cross... although ds's godfather got him a wall cross instead of a necklace cross.
we didn't get ds a gift..... we gave the church a donation, and we threw a bbq afterward.

In my case thats exactly what happened...the godmother bought his outfit and the godfather gave the donation to the church
My mother bought him his cross
we paid for the party
