Anyone experience mosquito bite-like welts after MMR or DTap
Just came from the dr, but still confused as to what's going on with DD, 18 mos. She had her MMR and Dtap booster on Monday. The same day, I noticed a little bump on her leg--figured it was her first mosquito bite. Then every day, I was noticing another (she has about 7 in different places on her body now). They were red, getting bigger, but not blistery like chicken pox. I called the Dr on Thursday and the nurse said it's most likely NOT connected to the shots and probably contact dermatitis (she hasn't had anything new or new body products). It was too soon and not the type of rash kids usually get with MMR. They also don't seem to be itching her. She's not scratching or even aware of them. She woke up today with another one right on her nose. I called the doctor because we have a 1 year old's birthday party today. I brought her in. She said it's not chicken pox and it's either bug bites or a reaction to the shots. I just can't imagine they're mosquito bites because more keep appearing and they're not itchy. Anyone else have a similar experience?

My DS had a reaction like that to the chicken pox shot. He did get a rash from the MMR as well but it looked different than you describe. I have learned though that every child's body reacts differently to shots. I hope this goes away quickly

Thanks! She didn't get chicken pox shot yet. I was worried at first that this was the chicken pox, but the bumps that appeared a few days ago, would be bister-y and scabbing by now. Dr. said it's not. Plus, no fever or irritability. They don't even seem to be itching her. So odd. Hopefully they pass soon.

DDs both had a reaction to MMR but it was small red dots, not raised, after 8 or 9 days. Slight fever for a few days around that time too. I was not giving another shot with MMR though. I don't think those are bites either.

Re: Anyone experience mosquito bite-like welts after MMR or DTap
Dd got the shot on a monday ...i noticed little bumps on her arms like a heat rash ...then the nest day tuesady i noticed the same bumps on her back and chest ...i took her to the dr o wed cause they weren't going away ..when i called to explain the nurse said they were getting a lot of calls about these so called bumps....i took her in made them give strep test they ruled out it wsnt from the shot ( of course that was the first words out of his mouth...it couldn't be the shot im just worrying too much) then we did the strep test i thiink he did it just to pacifi me ...but came backing and the bumps eventually went away ...she had no fever ...but i find it pretty weird how many people are bringing up these bumpsAFTER the shot.

So interesting! DD's spots are still here but faded. I don't see any new ones.
