The beach and the potty, what do you do?

DD is potty trained ( since Jan). We plan on going to the beach tomorrow.
I know at some beaches it can be a far walk to the bathroom.
Do you bring a travel potty ? I have the potet potty (sp?)
Do I bring that on the sand with me and just hide her with a towel?
DD is also known to say she has to go potty and then nice sitting decides she doesn't have to go. I would like to avoid 10 unnessasary trips to a public restroom.
Any suggestions? Experiences ?

Ok, I will throw it out there.

If we are at the ocean and far from the bathroom, I let her pee in the water.

Let the flaming commence. I have 3 kids and if I spent every day at the beach shuttling them back and forth to the bathroom, I may as well not even go.

This!

or go to a beach that is small and you can be near the bathrooms. I know the bay (or sound) beaches are closer tot he bathrooms than the ocean beaches...

I go to my town beach and try to sit near the bathrooms. I also think the potete idea is a great one - may have to steal it.

I bring my pottete with me if the bathrooms are a far walk, plus I have two kids so it's hard to take them both to the bathroom and back if I am alone with them.

I used to always pee in the ocean when I was a kid.
My mom taught me it and I'll teach DD one day when she is potty trained. Chat Icon

My kids just pee in the ocean lol

But I have seen people bring those pop up playhut type tents, and put a potty in there. That kind of grosses me out. I dunno why, it just does!

We do try to go to beaches that aren't a far trek to the bathroom though, because I always have to go!
