36 wks & period like cramps - UPDATE
Had cramping like this and tightening on/off earler for abt 1.5 hrs......no clue???
Had them again yesterday but also tightening and pain. Went to dr and he put me on monitor. I was having contractions. He sent me to L&D and they gave me lots of fluids which slowed them down. Im not dialated just cervix is soft. Had 3 internals yesterday......ugh!! Stayed overnight for monitoring and some pain meds. Was sent home today and told to rest and go back to dr monday. I have too much amniotic fluid so they say my belly is like 38/39 wks.baby will be scheduled c-sect May 8 (had sect with dd). We shall c how long this baby lasts!

I had those types of cramps for about 22 hours before I went into labor.
Everyone is different, and for some these cramps can last for a week or so before full on labor.
Either way you are close...all the best

It's your body just getting ready! I've been having them since about 35 weeks. I'm currently 38 weeks, 4 days.

I've had them on and off for the past month. My dr told me more than 7-8 in an hour to give them a call.

My OB said period like cramps that last for 1 minute and are 5 minutes apart for 1-2 hours, to call because that is labor.
If it stops, then it's not real labor. But lots of women say that labor pains start off feeling like period like cramps. Just keep an eye out if they start up again.
