I was treated rudely when I went looking for mittens a few months ago. Between that experience and their prices, I will never step foot in that store again. Most of my DC clothes are Carters, Macys, and Gap.

Yeah, I wasn't feeling the love in there either.

I can totally see that maybe moms of girls would find more stuff, but I was still shocked at the prices.

I felt very out of my element in there, for some reason!

I also love Gap clothes, but their regular prices are too high for my son, who grows out of things every time he sneezes! lol

Try Old Navy or Target for sure or Carters. They always give coupons.

I don't get it either. Most of the clothes aren't my style, it's not organized, doesn't have a great selection and is expensive!

I shop at Gap Kids/Baby Gap, almost always with a coupon, Old Navy, Target, occasionally Janie & Jack's sale rack.

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

Only been to the Commack one, but I wasn't impressed at all. I thought the boys selection was awful. I could see people with girls liking the store. I tried to look for something cute, but alot of stuff I picked up looked cheaply made. It was expensive too.

I shop mostly at Gap, Children's place, Carters, Old Navy.

I also love stuff from 77 Kids, Mini Boden, and Hannah Anderson.

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I've been in more than once and don't get it...it looks like bedazzled undershirts...all I need is a crafty day and I can do it...and before you say it's a good brand, I saw Hanes bedazzled for $20 and I just can't..I went in to talk about layette and the woman had such an attitude...I love the gap and I feel like if you wait 2 weeks after things come out, they are on sale and you get coupons galore...I go anywhere and usually find something but gap is a go to as well as old navy and sometimes the department stores (grandma is into those)...I'll sometimes do gymboree and I love mini Boden but either find it at Nordstrom rack (another favorite) or with coupons...

Ehhh I'm not impressed with their selection or their prices.

I don't think I have ever bought anything from there actually, I've never found anything I love enough to pay what they are asking.

My DS is a walking GAP ad. I buy 90% of his clothes from there.

I don't love the boy selection at CP but I have some active pants and graphic tees from there. I also have some pieces from Old Navy that I love on him.

thats so funny you mention this. I walked into the Oside location today for the first time. I wanted to see if they had any cute clothes for my Chat Icon on the way. I didnt see anything under size 12months so I left. Maybe I just didnt look hard enough. But when I walked in I felt like I was in a flea market. Just clothes everywhere and its all tie dyed !

Oceanside location DOES NOT have layette. I live right by the oceanside one but did DD's layette in the cedarhurst location which was awesome. I didn't do it for washclothes and sheets but for her take home outfit and all her clothes for her first 6 months I did from Dennys. IMO the layette department was amazing and SO different from the vibe of the rest of dennys. I was sad when I was no longer able to shop in that section.

I do still shop in dennys and like the oceanside one for toddlers but I don't nearly buy like I did when she was younger. But I do still buy there bc I love the bling, tutu's etc but more for special occasions. I do shop a lot at The gap for her as well, children's place and kohls too. I actually really been at the gap recently. I go in waves lol

But try Cedarhurst for layette! You will love!

I agree with you.
I live a few blocks from a Denny's & everytime I go in there hoping to find something that I like so that I can finally spend a $50 gc that DC received last year, I remember that I hate everything they carry. Not my style at all.

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I live right by the one in Little Neck so I have gone in there a couple of times. I have picked up a handful of things for DS for this summer- my favorite being a shirt that says "Elmo Is My Homeboy". Chat Icon But, DS is only 10 months and outgrows things so quickly, I could never make that my main store- and I didn't like all that much anyway. My go to places for DS- Gap, Old Navy, Children's Place, Carter's, Kohls, Osh Kosh, Target, and sometimes Gymboree.

I love Dennys and shop at the one in Little Neck all the time. I think it depends on your style. While I do shop at Carters and Gap (bc the clothes are affordable), they are not really my style - I hate clothes with animals on them, and those stores seem to have a lot of that.

Everyone knows me and DD at Dennys and we always get treated really well. I also don't find their prices to be that high personally - I believe you get what you pay for.

Anyone ever shop at Lesters?

I've only been to the one in Bellmore and thought the same...It was a mess and seemed unorganized!

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I shop at Lester's more expensive than Denny's but I do get the kids their sneakers and shoes...vin fact I am going there this week to get Chloe Cientas.

I will say that if you have coupons which they always have you can stuff at reasonable prices. I always have 30% off in Denny's. My camp has a card with discounts and they are on it...

Lester's always have coupons too.. If you know your brands and prices you can do well...

I will say both places are better for girls than boys..

I went once to Denny's. The clothes were not appealing to me at all (but I totally love Carter's clothes, which a lot of people hate, so it's just a matter of different styles for different people)

The prices were outrageous... again, in my personal opinion. Lots of people budget a lot more money than I do for children's clothes, and lots of people care more than I do about the brand name of their kids' clothes. Different strokes for different folks.

The one thing I will criticize about that store was the snotty treatment from the staff there. Clearly the bag I was carrying was not expensive enough to warrant good treatment, kwim? Chat Icon

I like their bathing suits, they carry a lot of cute ones! As for the clothes, most of it's not my style.

I've only been to the Cedarhurst one but I wasn't impressed AT ALL! Disorganized, pricy, too much stuff all around, rude salespeople... I have gone a few times, each time hopig for a different experience, but no such luck. Chat Icon

My DS's clothing is mostly from Gap, Carters and Old Navy.

I thought I was the only one who was really disappointed and didn't get they hype with Denny's AT ALL. I went to the Commack location a few times (just to double check if I was missing something) and didn't really see anything I liked. I was expecting this cute little boutique and it looks more like Marshall's for kids (minus the good prices). The clothes were not what I expected, but I guess that's just a matter of personal taste (I prefer a more classic look). I'm glad to hear it isn't just me that doesn't "get" Denny's!

ETA- I too felt I got a rude vibe from some of the sales people (although one woman behind the counter was nice). I went looking for Christmas dresses before Christmas but they had none and I just didn't care for the sales ladies.

Not a fan of Denny's. I did go to the warehouse sale twice, and they had nice things , good prices. For some reason I don't like the style of things in the stores and they are very overpriced. I really dislike tie dyed stuff .

Carters, gap are where we buy. We also have mainly hand me downs from old navy, target which have held up well.

I haven't been to Denny's yet so I can't comment on that.

I will say that I get DS clothes from the Gap and 77 Kids (American Eagle) and Janie and Jack for dress up. Even though the regular stores are pricey, the Gap outlet and AE outlets always have good prices so I don't feel as guilty there as I do in the regular stores.

Also, someone on here recommended Burlington for infant sized suits the other day. I had never been so I stopped in there and they had such cute things for very reasonable prices. In fact, I had come from Carters where I bought DS an outfit for $16. The same exact outfit was $9.99 at Burlington. They had Nautica, Ralph, Guess, etc.

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I've never been in one- but I'm not a huge fan of high prices or too much bling and definitely not loving tie-dye Chat Icon

I'm sure I could find cute stuff in there, because I do like really girly stuff for special occasions, but I know I would gawk at the prices so I'd best just stay away!

I'm actually LOVING the Cherokee toddler line at Target for spring/summer- I could probably drop a few hundred easily in there- but I would have wardrobes for both my girls.

I also like CP, Old Navy and Gap- but I'm in target a few times a week so I buy alot of their clothes there. Sometimes I hit up Marshalls if I'm in the mood to rifle through racks.

I was recently in Lord and Taylor and was loving all of their girls' stuff too, but I'd definitely wait for a sale there.

thanks, I will give them another shot and def try the Cedahurst location. I have seen some really cute outfits on babys and I know that their clothes came from Dennys, so thats why I went to check it out!

I've only been to the one in Little Neck and I wasn't too impressed. I felt that the staff was rude (if they even acknowledged you) and, though some clothes were cute, most items weren't my style. Their sizing also did not seem to be consistent.

My big pet peeve with Denny's is that you don't know the price of an item until you go to the register.

However, it each their own. A close friend of mine will only shop at Denny's for her DD. She swears by them!

Re: Um... Denny's Childrenswear... am I missing something?

I like Denny's for certain things. I think their layette dept is great-- and I got a lot of great things there for both of my kids.

For Sasha, some of the stuff is a little over the top and not my taste, but there are a lot of cute things. My mom will get her something cute every now and then-- I personally will only buy when they have their "Crazy Sale", because the prices are great and comparable to other stores.

Haven't shopped for older boy stuff yet...

Seriously? They must end up re-shelving alot of things left at the register...unless everyone who shops there just doesn't care about price
