Possible Milk Allergy?

Anyone experience with allergies?

DS has not been himself for the past month. He started the month off with crazy diaherra for about 10 days, on and off with fever. Was told it was a virus. Then he began throwing up (like projectile vomiting, no fever). I thought that it could be the Stoneyfield YoBaby I'd introduced. I stopped giving that to him and he is not throwing up as much, but still has about 3 poopy diapers a day, some of them are mucousy or seedy, like a newborns. He spits up (not too terribly bad, unless it's one of the random vomits) and it always has a little mucus in it.

He has always been a cougher... almost from day 1. but the dr. always said his chest was clear. for the past month he has been coughing and the occassional runny nose. At 8 month well visit, doctor suggested nebulizer 2x/day to see if i notice a change... i don't really.

he has also been incredibly fussy for the past month or so...which is sooo not like him. he cries a lot if you put him down too soon after feeding. he also does a lot of the arching his back and all that, but he was never a gassy newborn so not sure if he really is gassy.

also, in the beginning when he was pooping so much and they said it was the virus going around, the ped. said to try soy for a few days beause it would be easier on his stomach--- he hated it and wouldn't take the bottle unless he was starving.

he has been formula fed from day 1 (regular formula - no special formulation). could he be developing a milk allergy? how do they test for this? does he just have a cold that won't go away or could he actually be allergic to his formula? i did notice some improvement after i removed the yogurt, so now i am wondering if there is something food related going on? he basically eats formula and pureed fruits and veggies (no more yogurt).

if anyone has any suggestions or thoughts, i would appreciate it. thanks!

I would take a poopy diaper to the dr and have it tested for a milk allergy. It sounds like something is bugging him. DS had 10-12 poopy diapers a day when he was diagnosed with a MPA and soy allergy. He was only 4 weeks old...

oh sorry to hear he is still not feeling right! I dont really have any ideas...although the feeding behavior (arching back etc does remind me of Brendans reflux but that was back in the newborn stage...not sure if he can stil get it this late in the game? maybe though?) What does the dr say about a possible allergy? I know they said the coughing etc is a cold but I would push the possible allergy issue with them. Hope he s back to himself soon!

ETA: have you tried to mylicon drops to see if it helps to ease the gas..could be a help if the problem turns out to be just gas.

My DD is acting similiarly minus the fussiness.
She had reflux when she was born (spitting and projectile vomiting) but now at 8.5 months old, she doesn't really spit anymore but still vomits. She's not on meds for reflux anymore.
The week that she was vomiting like crazy - she was sick and also i introduced her to yo baby. The first and last time I gave her yo baby, the area where the yogurt touched her face got really red and bumpy. I immediately stopped. That night, she was vomitting until there was nothing left in her stomach and she still kept on vomitting. That was the worst night.
We recently took her to a goo d ped GI and we actually switched her formula from alimentum to elecare. The GI told us to avoid any dairy for now because of that rash and bump reaction that she had on her face and of course, vomiting. She's been on elecare/alimentum 50/50 blend for about a week now and she vomited once last night. I'm not sure if it's because she got so worked up from crying that she vomited or something else. The point is that she only vomited once this week compare to a few times a week prior to the switch.
I would suggest you take her to see a Ped GI and have her evaluated.

In terms of pooping, my daughter poops a lot too. She can go from pooping once a day to about 4 or 5 times a day. It is usually formed and not too wet. i think the pooping situation is normal.

Oh and the fussiness. I know my daughter starts whining if she's alone for more than a few minutes. I think that's more of separation anxiety at this age for my daughter. Something to think about.

Thank you, everyone! Went to ped. Again today. He has a few ideas of what it could be so for now I am eliminating dairy, nutrimagen formula and going to ENT on Tuesday to test for a possible windpipe issue or reflux.

For now, it's a wait and see what we find out. Thanks all!
