bassinet to crib

My baby is 11 weeks old. She still sleeps at night in her bassinet in my room. She sleeps great. During the day I've attempted to have her nap in her crib but it always seems that she sleeps much better (and longer) in her swing. Right now she's actually napping in her crib.

At what age did you move to the crib if your little one slept in the bassinet? This sounds crazy but I'll miss her sleeping in my room. Chat Icon

I'm going back to work next week so I'm thinking now is the time to make the transition. Thoughts?

Re: bassinet to crib

We did it at the same age as you - 10 or 11 weeks old. I wanted to have it done before i went back to work at 12 weeks.

We started out by putting his cradle in his room so he would get used to sleeping in the room, we did that for a week, then we transitioned him to the crib. (he didn't usually nap in there during the day either) It took 2 nights of him not going to sleep right away and wanting to play instead, but by the 3rd night he was fine and went to sleep fairly easily.

I thought i'd miss him too, but honestly, it was nicer having him in his own room so i felt like DH and I had our own space back!

Re: bassinet to crib

We moved him at 4 months. I had started napping him in there when he was about 3 months, so he was used to it and we had no issues with the transition. I did miss him a bit the first few nights, but he was also kind of a noisy sleeper so I started to sleep better once he left Chat Icon

Re: bassinet to crib

Thanks!

I like the idea of moving her bassinet in there for a few nights to get used to it. I was going to try to start it last night but I couldn't get myself to do it!

Re: bassinet to crib

My DD is 15 weeks and still in her cradle. That's just because we sold our house and moved when she was 2 mo old. We're currently in a rental house that we are moving out of this Friday so I didn't want to get her used to a room, only to change it again.

Hopefully by next week she will be in her crib in our new house :)

Re: bassinet to crib

On his 3 month "birthday" we did the transition. He was STTN since 6.5 wks. But he was sleeping in his bouncy seat in his bassinet for severe reflux with apnea episodes, so first I had to transition back to flat, then to crib. He never skipped a beat. Side note: he's swaddled for all naps and for the night (still...ugh.) and takes all naps in his swing. I never really had to switch the naps to the crib since he's either here or at my ILs, who have a swing for him too.

Our situation is a little different, but DD is 5 months and still in the cosleeper in our room. She has maybe 3 more inches she can grow to stay in there, but we like it. We just talked about moving her crib into our room Chat Icon

Re: bassinet to crib

So, I'm really pathetic. I can't get myself to move her out of my room! I almost felt like I needed to discuss it with her first. Chat Icon

I think tonight I'll put her in her bassinet in her room. Chat Icon
