If you get your nails done
what's the best option? I used to get acrylic done several years ago, but there are so many options now that I have no idea what to do. Is acrylic still good or should I try something else? What's the going rate for having your nails done and for the fill-ins?
Also, does anybody have a recommendation for a good and reputable nail salon in and around Hauppauge/Nesconset?

I don't do acrylics.. after years and years of getting them done, they just weren't practical and they RUINED my nails terribly so I went back to getting manicures for a while and then I started getting gel (gelish/shellac) manicures which I LOVE..

I don't get my nails done often, just for special occasions and events. But when I do, I like the shellac manicures because they last 2 weeks. My nails aren't that great, so a regular manicure only lasts like 2 days before chipping.

i used to have tips and it ruined my nails. now im doing gel color manicures on my nails. so far i love it.

This may be a silly question, so forgive me, but if you get a gel manicure do they, or can they add a tip, or something else to give your nails length? Or is it just something that protects your nails and helps them grow?

Every now and then I get a shellac manicure and the one I just took off yesterday lasted me three weeks.
The gel manicure totally effed up my nails and didn't last as long.

no, it's not a fake nail.. the gel manicure I do is gel polish so it looks like a regular manicure but it's gel polish so it's cured under the light

Then I go back to regular manicures.
every wk or every other. I need my nails to always be polished.

No they do not add a tip. I don't do gel but I do Shellac manicures and it protects the nail and grows so fast.
I get manicures regularly -- either regular or Shellac depending on what I have going on for the upcoming week/weeks.

I get these at Walt Whitman. They can last 3 weeks and no nail damage.

I think the best one I ever had was the shellac, lasts 2-3 weeks and doesn't damage your nails at all. It looks like a regular mani but a little thicker and shinier
