Ann Taylor Loft

Let me just start off by saying that I LOVE Loft. I'd say a good 75% of what I own in my wardrobe is from Loft.

A few weeks ago I went to the new store at Roosevelt Field. They were holding their "Friends and Family" 40% sale..I received an e-mail about it, there was a sign outside the store, and the sales associate at the door told me about it. When I got up to pay, they weren't going to give me the 40% off because I didn't have a coupon. Nowhere did it say you needed a coupon, and never in the past have you needed one. A few other customers behind me heard me telling the sales associate this, and they all agreed with me. She eventually did give me the 40% off, but made a big deal about it and was very rude for the rest of the sale. Being a new store, I gave them the benefit of a doubt.

Yesterday for "Cyber Monday" they had 50% off of everything online. Their website crashed, and a lot of people on their Facebook page were very angry about it. To make it up, they announced through a Facebook status that the 50% would be extended to stores and through today. I was so excited to go during my lunch hour, and doublechecked the deal on their website this morning before I left for work. This time I went to the store in The Source.

I got up to the counter with a HUGE purchase, and they rang it up without the 50% off. When I questioned it, they told me that I needed a printed coupon, and the sales associate's attitude started immediately.. I told them that nowhere on the website or on Facebook did it say I needed to print out a coupon, nor did I even see a coupon to print out. I wasn't annoyed or angry, and said this all calmly. I can't say the same for the woman who rang me up. Apparently, from the time I left my house for work to when I got to the store they changed the policy to that you DO need a coupon to receive the 50% off. However, being that I was at work I couldn't check their website, and when I checked it this morning there was no coupon. The associate was SO incredibly rude with me that I ended up leaving my items and walking out of the store. She is responsible for losing a big sale for her store.

Had she been nicer about not giving me the discount, I would have put a few items back and bought 1 or 2 things at the store and the rest online for 50% off. However, since she was so incredibly rude, I am not going to make my purchase online either.

This really bums me out..I had such cute stuff that I loved, and Loft is my favorite store! But their staff, which is usually helpful, has just been rude lately.

If you're disappointed, I'd suggest posting your experience on Twitter & Facebook to see what the store says.

Post it on your wall & tag the store.

Post it on their wall too.

My email did say to print out the coupon but in the past, all I had to do was show the coupon on my smart phone, which I've done for other people standing in line too.

It might get lost on Facebook. There are SO many negative comments still about their website going down yesterday and not working well today.

Post this everywhere. Write Ann Taylor Loft's customer service about it DIRECTLY. If they want you to have the coupons in your hand so bad, let them mail you some 50% off coupons.

Re: Ann Taylor Loft

i worked for loft for a while and i have to say that the communication from the head office to the stores is HORRIBLE! we never knew what coupons we were allowed to combine with what, what exclusions were etc. there were even times the store would be open for 2 hours and head office would send an email blast to customers about a sale before notifying the stores! they definitely have issues over there but there was no reason for the employee to be rude to you! i would call the customer service number and complain!

I can't stand sales people some times. They get so power trippy! Is she Ann Taylor herself?? Does she own the store? What the heck does she care if she gives you a coupon? Just give the coupon and move on! I used to do that all the time for costumers. Just make people HAPPY.
Ugh. I SO feel your frustration.

The FB one said that you could "show your phone" and get the discount. So, IMO, she was just being a b*tch.

Facebook didn't say you needed to print out the coupon until this morning. I left for work at 7 am, and wasn't able to get near a computer and I don't have the internet on my phone. So when I left my house at 7, and when I checked last night, the coupon wasn't on FB or the website yet, it just advertised the 50% off.

This is what was posted from 4 pm yesterday until about 10ish this morning..

Even More Time To Shop! 50% Off Everything + Free Shipping on all orders now through Tuesday 11/29 11:59PM PST in stores & online at LOFT.com (with code SHOP50). Due to popular demand, LOFT.com is currently experiencing trouble, but we'll be back up and running shortly for you to shop our sale.

I said to the sale person that I wasn't arguing needing a coupon, but I was unaware of needing a coupon since I don't have a job that allows for me to be at a computer during the day. It's not my issue if they changed their policy during the middle of the sale. She had the coupon on the counter, she could have scanned it.

What a witch. I can't stand people like that. I would go out of my way to NOT shop at that location anymore. Hopefully others see their snotty attitudes and follow suit, and their numbers go down in the dumps. Then maybe corporate will straighten them out!

I used to be a huge shopper at Loft until I had an issue with their return policy. When i complained I not only got an attitude from the salesperson but the sales manager. I was so pizzed by my treatment that i wrote corporate a letter of complaint. i received a response basically stating so sorry but tough. I refuse to shop there and have had my name removed from all their mailing lists. There are a slew of other stores that are HAPPY to have my business. I dont NEED to shop there. Re: Ann Taylor Loft

I had a problem with the loft store in The Source Mall about a year ago. I went to the counter to pay and took out my coupon - the sales clerk didn't even look at it -she just barked that they didn't accept it there - only at The Ann Taylor Store. I handed it to her, and it clearly stated that it could be used in either store. She was snotty with me for the remainder of the transaction. I called Customer Service and complained about that store as it wasn't the first time I'd had an unpleasant experience there regarding coupons. They said they would speak to the manager of the store about it and mailed me out a coupon. I would write in if I were you though, I think it's better than phoning. Good luck.

Sorry and shocked to read about your unpleasant ATL experience as well as the other negative reviews. I always find the sales associates to be extremely pleasant and helpful. Never had a problem or bad shopping experience at the Mayfair store.

I agree with you....lately the Roosevelt Field store has been picky with the Loft Loves Teacher Discount.....they said I need to show the coupon from when I first signed up ??? And a photo I'd card or pay stub...my UFT card isn't enough anymore.....yet none of this is mentioned on their website.....hope they straighten communication out...that's a shame for a big company and a new store like Roosevelt Field

They recently sent me a sticker to put on my Loft credit card showing that I get the Loft Loves Teacher Discount. The letter says that that's ALL I have to show.

Yesterday, the Loft was the first site I visited. Found what a wanted and tried to check out. Fail. I was happy to see that I could still get 50% off today so I attempted again. Fail. I waited a little while and of course when I went back, sold out. Not happy.
