What to expect at my first 9 month internal...
i am 37 weeks and have my "first" internal. What should I expect? I've heard it can sometimes cause your water to break or for you to loose your mucus plug. Is this true? I'm kinda nervous!

I won't lie it was uncomfortable and hurt a little bit. I don't know about the water breaking part though.

It can sometimes be painful because you are just so sensitive there right now.
It's normal to have spotting after, so don't freak.
And even if you lose your mucus plug- it can regenerate (did for me with DD), and is not necessarily a sign of impending labor.

Can always tell your doctor you want to wait till closer to your due date.
Can bring on labor if he strips your membranes, might want to ask him to explain exactly what he plans to do.

It can be uncomfortable and I heard sometimes it can hurt. I got my first one last week and was spotting the day after and had a little cramping. The doctor said this was totally normal. I go back for my next appointment today and I might ask her to wait until next week to do another one. It bothers me that she is stirring everything around and I still have 2 weeks to go

I had mine last week. It didn't hurt, I didn't lose my plug, and I didn't spot. I had the strep B test.
