Eat/Sleep Help for 6 month old

Need some eating/sleep help! My 6 month-old was STTN but he is teething and just getting over a cold - which I am pretty sure is the route of the problem. He has never been a big eater, but the last 3 days nights he refuses to take a bottle before bed. I've tried giving it to him earlier and later, but nothing has worked. He goes to bed with no problem, but he doesn't eat and of course then he wakes up in the middle of the night starving.

For example, the other day he had a bottle at 2:00, then had dinner around 5:00 (cerel and vegetable), and would not take his usual bottle before bed (7:30 - 8:00). And of course he woke up in the middle of the night hungry.

I'm hoping its just a phase that will pass when his teeth/cold gets better, but is there anything I can do? How do I get him to eat?

Re: Eat/Sleep Help for 6 month old

i've had this happen a few times with DD where she's refused her last bottle, but she's never not STTN.

maybe dinner is filling him up to much and he's not really ready for that bottle? if it were me i think my first move would be to maybe push his bedtime a little later and then trying that bottle, give him a little more time to get hungry...jmo

Re: Eat/Sleep Help for 6 month old

Is DS definitely hungry when he wakes up? My DS has been going through something similar and he is about the same age. The teething and congestion is causing him to not take as much at night. He does wake up in the night but he's not hungry as he'll go back to sleep with some soothing. If your DS is definitely hungry, then maybe give less at dinner? He could be tired. When is his last nap before bed. When DS is overtired he won't take as much as well.

Re: Eat/Sleep Help for 6 month old

Thanks for your responses! I am going to see if we can tweak his schedule a little. He definitely is waking up hungry because he downs a full 8 oz bottle when he wakes up and he normally does not drink that much at a regular feeding.

Also, I am going to try to make sure his afternoon bottle and dinner are early enough so that he wants the bottle before bed.

He definitely was overtired the other night so last night I tried putting him to bed earlier than normal and that did not work.

Hopefully it passes soon!!
