Daycare moms ... Do you give gifts...
Since I am a new mom I am not sure what the norm is.
Do you give gifts if so for what?
Holidays?
When your DC swithces rooms?
Do you give the main teachers and floaters something?
Directors?
If you do can you please share what you give and about how much you spend. I tend to always over spend and i dont want to start the habbit of overspendings.
Also here is my situation, if you give a gift when DC swithces room would you for this situation.
in DD daycare there is newborn room A and B it is split by a gate. There have been times when DD was in newborn room A they had her "in" newborn room B.
She was officialy swithced at the beginnig of this month to newborn room B. However they switched the "assistant" teachers in room A and B so the assistan teacher that was with her in room A is now with her in room B the main teacher in room A still has a possiblity to take care of her.
Would you have given a gift for DC switching rooms with the above situtaion?
ETA: this gift giving thing is going to stress me out

Only for xmas. never for switching rooms.
I gave Gift cards to the lead and the asst. Nothing for random floaters in the room and nothing for the director and front desk help.

In the beginning, when he moved up more frequently, I gave a larger gift when he moved up and a small token at Christmas. Now that he is older. I give a moderate gift for both Christmas and when he moves up. I give to the teacher and the assistants in his room.
I did give to a floater this past Christmas because she was filling in long term for a month or two in his room and has been in and out of all of his rooms for a couple of years. She knew him well, he loved her and I felt bad that she probably never gets anything for the holidays.
I give the director a bottle of wine at Christmas. She has been very good to my family and I want to show my appreciation to her personally, so it's a small token.

Same. The main teacher got a $50 giftcard and the assistant got $25.

We give $50 at the end of the year and $50 at Christmas, to all teachers/assistants, nothing to the Director.

When he moved up in the infant room, I brought in cookies for the teachers. I also brought in cookies for provider appreciation day.
We received a list of his classroom teachers and his "floater" - although they rotate, they assigned a floater to each room. For Christmas, I gave his two main teachers $25 giftcards and handsoap. I also gave the same gift to his infant room teachers (since they had him most of the year and I dropped him off to and picked him up from them and they had him more of the year than his current teachers did). I also gave Bath and Body Works hand soaps to the directors and the floater in his room.
He moved up less than a week later so I didn't give anything else (he was only in that room 3 months).
For the next room, I brought in an Edible Arrangement for provider appreciation day and he moved up a week later so I didn't bring anything else in.

Now that I am doing it twice a year, I give $25 gift card to each of them. Teacher and assistants get the same, because in my daycare, the head teacher doesn't seem to do a ton more than the assistants do.

Last year I gave christmas gift. This year I'm in a rough spot because she just switched rooms. I dont know whether to gift now or wait until christmas.
We do $100 per teacher/assistant.
There is one floater I really like, for her bday I got her a nice card & put a win for life scratch off inside. She really liked it!
I might give her a gift at christmas because she is soo loving and caring with my children.

Joey goes to an in-home and I LOVE her and the other teacher. SO I do get them things for holidays, "mother's day", teacher appreciation week, etc. .

I give cash gifts at Christmas and at the end of the year (right before they move up).
I give each teacher $50 per kid, assistants $25 per kid.

thanks everyone for now i will just do chirstmas gifts and will def. get all 4 teachers/assisants (i really see no difference in these 2) something
I guess I will worry about and decide when she moves into a totally different room if i am going to give them any.

xmas a small token gift
Teacher appreciate day later on in the year I get something for all of them..
last year our preschool did a teacher appreciate WEEK so they got a little something every single day! If we do that again this year, I'm prepared!

do you mind sharing the range you spend. i always seem to spend to much on gifts and i dont want to start that habit but i also dont want to spend to little

I only gave gifts at Christmas time, and I gave them each the same thing -- $20 Starbucks gift cards.
When we left the center, we bought a toy and book for the room DCs were in....I still get e-mails from the head teacher that whenever they read that particular book they think of older DS.

When switching rooms I give to his 2 main teachers
Christmas - 2 teachers and director
Teacher appreciation day- 2 teachers
ETA: I usually give gift cards ranging from $10 to $15 each for places like Chilli's, Starbucks, ITunes etc

DD has been in daycare since she was 5 months old. She just got moved up from the infant room to the toddler room. I ADORE her teachers in the infant room and I gave them $100 gift certificates each and gave the assistant $50. I also give them nice xmas presents too, $100 per teacher/assistant. I just feel that they don't get paid much and they are taking care of my child all day monday through friday, so it's the least I can do. DD's new teacher is getting married soon and I'll do a gift card for her also.

Always at Christmas- just to the classroom teachers/aids not the director.
I have when switiching rooms because I really loved the teacher and DD loved her too. I gave a Willow Tree angel and nice card.
I also gave $10 DD gc to all teachers last Valentine's Day. We went apple picking recently so I sent in baskets of apples to each room for the staff.
