Officially freaking out about the bus.
I'm a new "Kindergarten" mom and I cannot bear the thought of my little baby being on a bus for almost an hour every day without a seat belt with other rowdy kids and crazy drunk people and teenagers on the road. OK there I said it, now someone please tell me how paranoid and unreasonable I am please!!

There are seat belts on the buses, just remind your LO that he has to wear it every day!
And besides, there usually aren't that many drunk drivers on the road that early in the morning

I understand. I'm nervous about it too. I do feel somewhat better today because I just learned E will be on a mini-bus, and she's picked up only 20 minutes before school starts. It seems slightly less scary to me now.

Our Busdriver will not move the bus unless the Little Ones are buckled in. Also at Kindergarten round up, we(the PTA moms) took the kids on the bus and showed them how to buckle their seat belts.

It is my main worry about starting K-I keep telling myself that DS will be on it only for a mile or so. He is generally good about buckling himself in-hopefully it will last a few more yrs before peer pressure gets to him.

I am a teacher and I taught K for several years. In my district, they have all the Kindergarten student sit in the first few seats on the bus so the bus driver can keep an eye on them. Also, the older kids are really nice to the little ones, it makes them feel important! :) I am sure everything will be fine but as a mommy I understand the worry. Good luck on the first day. Kindergarten is a magical year in school, you will be amazed at the progress your child makes this year!

I thought I was alone in this! I don't even like DH to drive my DC, I can't imagine how I am going to put them on a bus with a complete stranger driving!

Our district has that rule too about Kindergartners.
