I'm sure a lot of trees will be falling on power lines with the high winds.

I bought milk boxes

Another thing you can do that a friend told me, get bags of ice and put them in the freezer now. If the power goes out, grab the milk from the fridge and the ice and put it in a cooler.

YES! I would put ice in a cooler now to get it cold, drain the water as it melts, then refill. I'm putting all milk and any foods I'll need to prepare for DS in there. I hope to not have to open the fridge for anything once the power is out - and I"m sure it will be. I can survive on pretzels and PB&J if I need to. Chat Icon

I would get evaporated milk or powdered milk. That is what I have for DD. Or Pediasure.

Re: milk with no power

DS is still on whole milk but for the storm I got him Horizon shelf-stable 1% milk. They (Horizon) don't make shelf-stable whole milk. I figure a few days of low fat won't hurt him. He gets plenty of healthy fats from various sources regularly.

Re: milk with no power

i just realized that our 15 month old can resort to formula that we've had left over from the day we switched to whole milk

i also realized that i might be able to borrow some of the batteries from his toys for our flashlights... man, is that a new low?

does anyone have a "go-diaper bag"? i was thinking in case anything happens and we have to leave, would it be smart to shove diapers and a few changes of clothes and 2 containers of puffs in the diaper bags?

sigh

cant this storm just go away? i feel like a raging psychopath :(
