Intro and question..
Hi Ladies, my husband and I have been TTC for almost 2 years and are currently in our second IUI cycle. I've been a long time lurker on the site and have never had the courage to post anything until now.
I have a question regarding this currently IUI cycle (100mg clomid + injectables): I went in for my CD10 monitoring this morning and the ultrasound showed that I had about 4-5 follicles between the 12-15mm range and a bunch much smaller, but my lining was only 5.8. Just now, I got a phone call from the nurse at my RE saying that my blood results showed that I started surging and they wanted me to come back for my HCG shot this afternoon followed by B2B IUIs tomorrow and Thursday. Is it possible to be surging so early in the cycle, especially since my follicles aren't nearly large enough? When I asked them about this, they said well, we don't want to miss the ovulation this cycle. Will my follicles be mature enough once the HCG kicks in (figure in about 2 days)?
This all caught me by surprise because last cycle, I didn't trigger until CD17 (but only on 100mg of clomid) and have not mentally prepared myself for things moving so fast this time around. Any advice/input anyone may have would be greatly appreciated!

They can, depending on how your body is responding to the injectables. I had a bunch of 10/12s and went back 3 days later and they were 18/20/22s. I would ask to speak w/ your dr directly tomorrow and find out what he thinks.  HTH! Good luck!

Thanks for the well wishes. We went ahead with the IUI anyway and hopefully everything works out. The doctor did say that if it doesn't work this time, he plans on giving me something to counter the surge the next cycle around day 8 so that my follicles will have a chance to mature more. I go back for another IUI tomorrow morning and then it's on to the wait.

I agree with this. I think they took the right course... your follies grow 1-2 every day. Some RE's only require them to be larger than 15 for a surge. I hope you dont have to go back for another one!
