should I be concerned???

My DD will be 5 months and has not rolled over. She can go all the way on her side... it seems like she will go over any minute and then she rolls back to her back. When she is on her tummy... she pushes up on her arms... looks around, but eventually gets bored and lays down and sucks her thumb. She just seems to have no interest.

She has great head control and her back muscles are getting stronger... When we "practice", she can pull herself over to her belly or her back if I guide her. She is starting to sit on her own for a few seconds with the Boppy around her for protection.

She has hit all her other milestones on-time or early... but rolling over. Part of it is my fault bc we didnt do much belly time when she was younger, but I have been doing alot this last month and still nothing.

Re: should I be concerned???

Eddie didnt roll until like 7 months, I was so concerned and my ped and friend who is an OT, kept telling me it was nothing to worry about. He rolled eventually, and they were right, it was nothing to worry about.

Re: should I be concerned???

My DD would do EXACTLY what you are saying... go half way onto her side and then go back. I would say after 6 months old she did it all the time. Dont worry!!

nope. jack is almost 11 months and the ONLY time he rolls is to try to escape a diaper change on the changing table.

i dont think he rolled until 7-8 months.

he is 10.5 months and crawls, stands, cruises and has taken steps solo Chat Icon

Re: should I be concerned???

My DD is also 5 months and does the exact same thing. She loves to roll onto her sides and tries so hard to roll onto her tummy but she can't figure out how to move her arm out of the way. She does good on her tummy but hates it and cries after 10 minutes. She's starting to sit up by herself too (with the boppy behind her) and she has great head control when she's in her bumbo or exercauser. I wouldn't worry about the rolling. They will figure it out soon enough Chat Icon

Re: should I be concerned???

Don't worry about it..
DD will be 5months on Monday and she just started rolling over Sunday night, She was doing the whole half turn then rolling back onto her back I was getting soo frustrated I just wanted her to keep going but she would give up almost. But then out of no where Sunday night I laid her on the floor dh & I started talking and he just happen to look down and she was on her side SO we sat there quietly n bam she rolled over then looked at us like "wow what I just do" it was great!! Now she wont lay on her back evertime I put her down she immediately rolls on to her tummy!Chat Icon Just give her time and lots of room she will do it when shes ready.
