We have a space right outside our bathroom that we keep the hamper in. The kids each have one in their rooms.

same. growing up we had the hamper built in to the vanity. we plan on doing something similar in our new house

While living at home, the hamper was in the bathroom. It was a nice one with a lid and also was used as a shelf for towels when showering.
Now we each have one in our closet.

In the master bath, yes. That's where a lot of the dirty clothes are removed, so it makes a lot of sense if you have the room.
DC's bathroom doesn't have one, since there isn't much room. They have a hamper in their bedrooms.

we keep ours in our master bedroom but our master bath is attached to our room. our baby will have a hamper in her bedroom too.

I'm not sure really what my answer would be! The "main" bathroom, I guess would be the bathroom in the hall up the stairs. Both DS use that to brush their teeth & baths. An No we don't keep a hamper in that bathroom. We do however keep the hampers in the closet inside our master bath. The whole family uses these hampers.

we have a giant walk in closet just outside the bathroom in the hall, that we use for linens and all kinds of storage....its in there.

Yes, and it works out great. We have one that is sectioned into 3 spaces - whites, hot wash colors, and cold wash colors. Makes laundry day really easy!!

we have one of those old school metal ones built into the wall but we don't use it.
we throw our laundry down the basement stairs, where it sits until one of us goes down there (we go up and down several times a day, at least).
in the laundry room we have one of those big thingys with 3 separator bins. still trying to teach DH which goes where, but that's a whole other issue lol.

i don't have one at all....instead i just bring the dirty stuff straight into my laundry room....i have one basket for dirty colors and one for dirty whites and then as i wash clothes i sort out the towels, delicates etc. i think hampers are kind of gross (i had one when i lived at home with my parents and also when i lived in an apt with DH and i hated taking out the soggy clothes that were sitting in there for days, it always grossed me out) but essentially the baskets i use for dirty clothes are hampers but it seems less gross for some reason...
