How long is your lunch break? And is it enforced?

I have had a variety of different jobs that have given me different lunch breaks with different flexibilities. One jobs had NO flexibility and a half hour. Another had an hour and LOTS of flexibility.

What is YOUR lunch break and how much is that time enforced?

Being a teacher, it's pretty standard...this year we have an hour and it's enforced...someone else is watching your kids and the next lunch needs to start..

hour, technically. it's enforced for non-attorneys. attorneys... everyone's different. some ppl never take lunch so they can go home at a reasonable time. others will take over an hour because they stay late anyway.

I never really worked anywhere that it was "enforced" but in most of those positions I probably only took a lunch break 25% of the time; working through lunch was pretty much standard operating procedure for most of my past jobs. So when I could or had to take an hour at lunch, it was never a big deal if it ran over by a bit....

I work PT, so there really isn't a lunch hour for me unless I am working a full day. However, it's very strict and it's only 1 hour (12:30-1:30).

ETA: I am in engineering, so there are lots of office as well as field personnel.

no defined lunch break. I work for family. I can go out whenever I want and take as long as I want.

I only work 4 1/2 hours each day so I don't get a lunch break.

We don't have a defined lunch hour, so most people will go out for 15 minutes or so and grab lunch or take a quick walk...if i want to take an hour to run an errand or meet a friend for lunch though, I definitely can

1 hour. We are a small office so it is very noticeable when someone is gone for a while. Its ok, if we are about 10 min late.

We're very loose at our office..there are just 3 of us in the office and our sales people travel and work out of their homes. Most times I don't take lunch, I'll eat at my desk play on FB and LIF for a bit and then go back to work.

I have a half hour. But I very rarely take a lunch at all, so if I do have to go out and run an errand, its ok if I'm late coming back.

45 minutes. I am a teacher and have 5th period lunch.

40 min. I am a teacher so it is strictly enforced- I teach right after lunch.

We get an hour, but it is not AT ALL strictly enforced, because we are measured by what we produce and not by the time we spend working. Case in point, we have attempted to pioneer a movement called "Take Back Your Lunch!" Check it out!

I am a teacher - one period is 41 minutes - so that is how long I technically have for lunch. I do, however, have back to back periods off (prep then lunch) - so I eat anywhere from 10:45-12:15, depending upon when I am hungry.

I work in a small law firm. Technically its 1/2hr but since no one smokes in the office we take our two 15min breaks and combine it with our lunch to make it an hr. They don't seem to mind so we just go with it

Our lunch break is *technically* 45 minutes but we are also supposed to get 2 15-minute breaks.

The way they worked it out is that our shifts are 7 hour and 45 minutes long, and we get an hour for lunch.

However, we don't clock in and out so it all depends on your supervisor. Some are stricter than others. All I will say is that I have a very easy supervisor

1 pm - 2:30 pm (even though we are technically supposed to be back by 2/2:15, it's not strictly enforced & generally nobody starts working again until 2:30) However if I really have a lot of work to catch up on, I sometimes work through part of my lunch (but I try not to do that).

1 hour and its paid!
you don't have to take it but you have to stay till 5 unless you tell my boss in advance that you need to take it at the first part or last part of the day. I can only do that once in a while, he would freak if I did it alot

if you need extra time to go to then dr or dentist on your lunch hr he never says anything

ETA- we can take it anytime we want from about 11am-3pm. he doesn't like the 3-4 hour because its so close to the end of the day but he doesn't enforce any time
