Because I checked and it is no longer being sold. Chat Icon

I have a friend who does the majority of her christmas shopping during the sales right AFTER christmas. So she shops for the following year (so items could be unavailable now, but she has them to give)

could be a scenario like that, or could be a re-gift. But if its a nice new item, I don't mind the re-gift of toys so much (just uber tacky that it was re-gifted to the giver).

this is me too... when i see something i like at a good price i grab it. it could sit in my closet for a really long time until the child i intended it for has a birthday and/or fits into it (i usually do this with polo dresses i pick up from marshalls/tjmaxx). i also will do this with toys/crafts that i see DD really enjoys.

are you sure it was a regift? maybe her child liked it so much that she decided to buy it for yours?

I was thinking this as well.

Me too! How do you know it was the same item?

That was my first thought. I've done that with some things, especially when DC really love an item. I figure if they like it, other kids the same age will, too.

Maybe in addition to the item she got from you she got one from someone else as well. I guess technically that's still a regift.

Re: WWYD - Regarding receiving a regift?

thought I created this thread because this just happened to me. The item was closthing so I at first was like WOW then thought that it may have not fit her ds last year for christmas or just at the time outgrew the size or just didnt' like it. The thing is I know she didn't intentionally regift it to me. I could never embarrass someone for that. I only mentioned it to my mom and we had a nice laugh and my ds has been wearing the particular clothing out Chat Icon I called and thanked her Chat Icon

I wouldn't say anything. maybe they are having money issues and she didnt want to not get your dc a gift. she probably forgot that you gave it to her dc....

Re: WWYD - Regarding receiving a regift?

It would piss me off. DD's aunt and uncle aka her godfather regifted her for her baptism! They just had been married and it was so obvious it was a gift from their wedding. I was ******! They have so much $ so that is not thw issue. I would rather no gift at all.

I wouldn't say anything. Why make someone feel bad at Christmastime?

I probably won't say anything. It happened to my dd...someone regifted part of the present...refill pack. Chat Icon She couldn't use it since it was a refill and she didn't have the tool. Oh well. Now I know.

I'd prob mention something about giving her DC the same gift last year and leave it at that. I'm fine with regifting but not to the person who originally gave it.

I would give it back next year in the same packaging.

Re: WWYD - Regarding receiving a regift?

Are you sure it was regifted? It is possible that she bought another one of the same that you gave her child?

Just asking because often times we have favorite toys that my children were given and they love it so much ill buy it for another child in hopes that they enjoy it just as much.

If not - THEN - I probably wouldn't say anything - its not worth it to me to cause drama over it - but i would keep a mental note of it.

Re: WWYD - Regarding receiving a regift?

I wouldn't say anything.. maybe they got more than one and decided to keep the duplicate to give to someone as a gift... but obviously forgot you gave it to them in the first place. While it is still a regift, I don't think that scenario is the same as just blatantly regifting without thought.

Re: WWYD - Regarding receiving a regift?

It sounds like an obvious regift to me -
If it were ME and I deliberately bought the same gift b/c my kid loved it so much I'd TELL you that -
"OH Sean LOVED this so much when you gave it to him last year I just HAD to get it for your Kid" KWIM??

Regardless, I wouldn't say anything about it - I would be peeved though.

I totally understand regifting - but you don't do it when it's OBVIOUS !!
