So the pulling up in the crib. . .

phase. . .when does THAT end? b/c it's REALLY FUN when they think it's game at 2am Chat Icon

I woke up at 2am for some reason last night (I probably heard him just didn't realize), so I turned over to just hit the video on the monitor. . .there is his little face staring at the camera (like he knows that's what it does Chat Icon) standing up in his crib, holding onto the side (in his sleepsack, mind you) babbling away like it's play time! Go in, put him down. . .back up 5 minutes later. . .left him there to get himself back down. . .nope. . .go in put him down. . .etc. This went on for an hour. The night before it was 4am!

first off WHAT is he doing up and WHY do they think this is fun? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Travis does this sometimes, but if he is not crying, I TRY really hard not to go in. Usually he will go back to sleep on his own. I think once he realized I was ignoring him, it didn't happen as much.

I did Ferber, close enough. I hate leaving him standing there at 2am, in the dark doing "maaaaaamaaaaaa" but bleh, I guess I have too. He does it during the day too, gets himself up into toy basket/book basket then stands there like "ummm how the he ll do I get back down" lol Maybe I shouldn't help him during the day either.

omg, not looking forward to that stage.
Right now, he flips out in the middle of the nght if he rolls onto his back & can't get back to belly. I always go in to flip him because I can't deal with crying at 1am. I know it's prob not the best thing to do.

he's practicing what he learned..LOL.

DS does this when we first put him down. We think he's out, put him in the pNP in our room and bam..pulls himself up and laughs. DH left him there by himself for a little while and he played himself to sleep. thank god, b/c if he was crying, I dont know how much of that i could stand.

My DD looks toward the door, not the cameraChat Icon

I let her be and she usually falls back down and goes off to sleep. But luckily she only does it before bed, not at 2 amChat Icon

Re: So the pulling up in the crib. . .

I hate this phase b/c DD is not so steady on her feet yet. She's fallen a few times and has bumped her little head. I feel so bad for her and am so nervous to leave the room. I've taken out all crib toys hanging on the sides that could cause additional injury.

LOL after awhile they start to just realize that no one is coming and sit themselves back down. Mattea stood up calling our names for the first week until we helped her back down but now she gets up and down as she pleases....good luck!

We just went through that here. After about 2 weeks DS finally learned how to sit down from a standing position in the crib. Nap time was a b!tch. Bed time wasn't so bad if he fell asleep before he went in the crib. It is only a phase. One that feels like it will never end!!!
