How much is your 2-3 month old napping?

My DD (8 weeks) is sleeping through the night already. If we put her down around 8PM, she will sleep through til 4:30 or 5AM. Then, if I feed her and put her back down, she's up and down until 7:30 or so. Then, she might be up for an hour and then gets tired and sleeps in and out until 10 or so.

Then she doesn't sleep any more than 20 minute catnaps ALL DAY!!!!! It's making me sick thinking she's not napping enough.

I've tried everything to get her to stay down longer. Swaddling, not swaddled, paci, leaving an arm free to suck her fingers, making sure she's comfy temp wise, etc. I've rocked her til she's totally asleep, I've rocked her til she's "drowsy but awake."

NOTHING seems to keep her sleeping!! It's like, as soon as she's about to fall into that deeper sleep, she completely wakes herself up!!!!!

I really don't know what else to do. Should I not stress out that she's not getting anything remotely close to the 15 hours she should be??

this is our first so i dont have much info

but DD has moments like this...i dont always know why.

is she fussy? does she cry? maybe gas/burps? maybe give her more formula/bm? i know with the larger feedings...dd sleeps longer & sometimes she falls asleep while eating.

i prolly wouldnt worry though. if she isnt crying or upset she's prolly getting what she needs.

She's fussy when she gets tired because she sleeps so little during the day that she gets way overtired. I see the dark circles under her eyes and it kills me!!

I thought it might be gas, or colicky fussiness, but the more time goes by, I am convinced it's not.

She might fight her nap a little bit, but I am always able to soothe her and get her to fall asleep no problem. She just wakes herself up as soon as she's about to fall into a deeper sleep every single time I try and get her to nap.

And this is whether she's in her crib, in her rocker chair or swing.

DS is 3 months and the only was he would nap during the day was in something that was moving or vibrating. Even then, the only time it was longer than a cat nap was in his car seat. Now, I try to time his naps so that we leave the house when he's ready to go to sleep so that he will sleep longer in his car seat. Other than that his naps are short as well. It drives me crazy but I'm hoping as he gets older and his naps condense he will get in a few longer ones and less shorter ones.

My DD used to just fall asleep so I never thought I'd have to put her down for a nap. Now she'd be awake all day if I didn't actively put her down for one and she gets frantically upset if she doesn't get to sleep by 8 so I learned that I HAVE to give her a nap during the day.

She wakes up for the day around 8 or 9am and we hang out and talk and sometimes play. I notice her rubbing her eyes around 10 so I try to get her to nap around 11am. I swaddle her in her swaddle blanket, put her in her swing with the womb sounds bear and her binky. She'll usually fall asleep within 20 minutes and mostly just sits there and looks around until then. She'll sleep for 2-4 hours and then be up until 7 or 8. I can never find another good time for a nap and she doesn't really seem tired most days.

Some days she wants to nap all day and she'll cry and continue to rub her eyes if she's tired. Then I'll give her as many naps as she needs.
