Babyproofing Fireplace Idea...
Just posting here in case anyone was looking for a cheap fix for their fireplace.
I first purchased one of those strips to go along the bottom of my fireplace as shown in the first pic. DS ripped it up after 5 days. I also wasn't crazy about the fact there was so much exposed brick. DS is walking but he isn't that steady yet and he always has TONS of books and toys all over the place so I was constantly paranoid that he was going to trip and fall right into the bricks.
Picture of before with the strip:
So, I started to do some research and we were going to buy a hearth pad. They look nice, but I honestly could not find one for under $200! I found this on another parenting blog that now I can't find again!
Anyway, below is a pic of what I did. I just used gorilla glue to align the two foam pieces perpendicular to each other (and so DS wouldn't be able to easily get it apart). Now I don't have to have minor heart attacks everytime DS walks near the fireplace (in his playroom).
Thanks for looking - thought it could possibly help someone else. It's an inexpensive solution. While not the prettiest, I can live with it - the room is a toy explosion anyway - lol!

Love it! Our fireplace doesn't have a stoop, but that's a great way to deal with one!!
