Working moms of 2+ - morning routine?

Well, I'm getting a little taste of the chaos that will ensue when I go back to work, now that I'm working from home 2 days a week. It takes me upwards of an hour, hour and a half to get the girls to school!!!

Please tell me what your morning routine is, and how you get everyone ready and out the door - any tricks to help?

Re: Working moms of 2+ - morning routine?

First off, I prepare their bags for daycare the night before. Bottles, sippy cups, juice boxes, my lunch, etc.

I'm up at 6/6:30AM every morning. Ethan usually wakes up when I do so I give him his bottle and we hang out for a bit. Then I get him changed/dressed and put him either in his jumperoo or swing while I take a shower, usually about 7:30.

After my shower, I get Benjamin (my 2 1/2 year old) up and dressed. While he's eating breakfast, I get dressed and put my makeup on. By now it's 8AM and DH is up as well.

He helps me get them ready to go by 8:15AM and we're out the door by 8:30AM.

I really find the key for me is getting anything than can be prepared the night before done before I go to sleep. It doesn't always go as planned but having our routine down helps tremendously.Chat Icon

I think you need to give Alex more responsibilities. Have her make breakfast. Does she know how to cook eggs? Plus she can go out and start the car to warm it up.

Re: Working moms of 2+ - morning routine?

I am a lifelong procrastinator, so I don't prepare anything the night before. I so recommend doing that though!

When Hannah was an infant and I went back to work, I got up at 6:00 and took my shower. Then I fed her a bottle and put her in the exersaucer. Andrew got up at 7:00 and I would get him dressed, brush his teeth and start his breakfast. While he ate I would blow dry my hair, put on my makeup, get Hannah dressed and then dress myself.

Andrew was picked up by school bus at 8:00. Hannah and I were out the door by 8:30.
