Question on starting solids

My 5.5 month old girls have tried rice cereal but hated it... They have also now had sweet potatoes, bananas and squash and liked all three. I don't want to overdo it and am currently feeding them solids once a day... When did you know it was time to up it to twice a day?

i think i UPed it every month...started at 6 mo ( 1 meal ...2 meals..then 3 meals!)
