Anyone else with a small appartment?

What are you doing nursery wise? We're a bit concerned as we can not purchase a house right now...

A friend suggested what she did... purchase no crib, just a Playpen/bassinet/changer combo?

Anyone else do this?

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We have a very small place and we aren't pusrchasing a crib right away. We're getting a bassinett for the first couple of months. We're hoping to be able to buy a house in that time.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

DH and I have a big 1 br apt. We found a 2 br and are moving at the end of the month but if we were staying here-we would be using just the bassinett in pack and play.

I know a lot of people who have done this.

We have a small one bedroom apt. Our bedroom is a good size so we are putting a regular crib in there. DH emptied his armoire so all of Chat Icon clothes will go in that. DH cleaned out his closet to make room for his stuff from the armoire and he donated a lot of clothes that he hasnt worn in a long time.

I bought him 2 stacks of 3 plastic drawers to put in his closet for the rest of his clothes. We plan on moving to a 2 bedroom apt sometime in the spring.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

Thank you girls...

See, we have the bottom floor of a house, so things are oddly situated. We have a small area next to the living room that can fit a crib and changing table and then a rather large walk in closet that we can put another armoir into...

I just didnt' know what else we would "NEED" to have. Thanks so so so much!

We re-signed the lease on our apartment before we got our BFP, so we'll be here at least until baby is a few months old. Our bedroom is on the large side, with a king bed and a few dressers. We still have space for a crib, so we will be getting a crib from the beginning I think.

We also have a dog so we will be getting a pack 'n play for the living room or foyer/entry room.

We live in a house now, but with baby #1, we were in a 1 BR, on the small side. We just got a pack n'play with a diaper changing station attached, and used that for the first 4 months, until we moved into a 2 BR apartment. It was completely fine. We also got a snap n'go which folded to save space on not having a big stroller.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We are in the process of looking for a house, but will be in a 1 BR apartment in the city when Chat Icon arrives - so you can imagine how much room we have Chat Icon We will probably be there for about 2-3 months and we will be using a pack and play/bassinet/changer combo until we move.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We have a 1BR right now and will be here for a few months to a year after Chat Icon arrives. We are getting a crib for our bedroom, and a dresser with a changing table top. I am going to also buy lots of organizers like space bags for clothes that are out of season, and those plastic 3 drawer things for in our walk in closet. I am going to also have to get some organizers for the other rooms of the apt. I plan to store things in the appropriate rooms they will be needed. Bath stuff in the bathroom, bibs and such in the kitchen, etc. I am more concerned with having enough room for things like a swing, tub, etc.. I plan to keep the stroller in the trunk of the car for easy access for walks. Hopefully we will find a house soon after Chat Icon arrives. Just thinking about it makes me feel cramped. DH is 6'7 and takes up a lot of room himself Chat Icon and we have an 85 lbs lab. I know we will make it work not matter what, and so will you.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We moved back in with my mother in law a month before we found out I was PG. We were going to dormer and make it a mother daughter, but right now we dont have the $ with the baby coming. So we will be managing with the 2 rooms and 1 bathroom (with no tub).
One room is being used as a living room, and this is where most of DS stuff will be. Crib, Glider, Closet...
Dresser and pack and play will be in the room with us. It will be tight but we will manage.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

we have a very small 2 bedroom in Nashville, and the second bedroom is not set up to be a nursery. We bought a bassinet for our room and have a pack N play if Chat Icon grows out of the bassinet before we move in June.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We are getting this crib, its a bit modern minimalist but its looks so sweet in person, and suits our modern apartment.

External Image

Also it eliminates need for playpens, pack and plays, bassinets, etc etc... Its on wheels, so we plan on keeping it in our bedroom when sleeping, living room during daytime, for wake/play. Its also on wheels so you can rock/roll baby in it.

No other furniture needed since we are just putting a changing pad on top of an existing dresser, thereby making a changing table.

Only other piece of furniture I may be considering is a rocker/glider

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We have a small apartment as well...

We actually decided that since we have a large area in the living room where our dining table is, we are going to turn that into the nursery...

We never use the dinner table anyway so, we figured, that and in the bedroom a bassinet. Nothing major..once we have our own house... that baby is going to be spoiled!

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

we have a 2 room apartment... and i dont mean 2 bedroom.. i mean 2 rooms total! ... 1 bedroom 1 bathroom and 1 livingroom/kitchen combo.

The living room kitchen combo is way to small for the baby and where we do most of our living awake time so it wouldnt be wise to put the baby here. we are all in one room.. this is what we've done.

we had a hand me down changing table and crib. 2 small dressers and a large closet. I took one dresser the baby has the other and dh has the closet (he has more clothes then the baby and i together) The changing table is small with baskets on it for storage and we used the bassinet (also a hand me down) for the first 3 months we just put together the crib and it actually fits VERY well. (i promise i will take pics for you tomorrow!)
the glider is in our living room it fits much better there.

My mom keeps sending me pics of this crib. She is in love and wants us to get this. Are the wheels optional? I was a climber and so was DH so that makes me nervous.

I'm shopping around for it for better price, and have seen it setup in all stores with the wheels, but it seems like the wheels can be kept off. I'm not 100% sure. The wheels do lock really sturdy in place, the quality is superb.

You have to see it for yourself, its such a little gem of crib compared to anything I've seen. I have to say I'm in love with it too!

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

We rent a 2 bdrm house right now but have to move in April due to the landlord selling the house.

Hopefully we can rent a 3bdr house in our budget but most likely we will rent another 2bdrm house. Then the plan is to keep the baby in the bassinet in our room and put the changing table in DS room. We are getting the changing table that is a dresser as well so that we don't have to get 2 pieces of furniture.

When it's time for the crib...IDK what we are going to do but I am sure we will make it work.

Re: Anyone else with a small appartment?

I have a small 2 br. apt. Our nursery isn't big so we got a combo dresser, crib and bookcase. We'll be here for at least another 2 years so I wanted to make it comfy.
