would love to know too...

sorry no help here, I have a cheap set!

However, I will tell you that I recently bought a knife sharpener and it made a world of difference. Even good quality knives dull over time, I highly recommend adding this to the wish list.

Re: Please recomend your cutlery set

Best ones ever..Cutco, expensive but they have a lifetime warranty. My parents have had theirs for nearly 40 years. When I got married my mom bought me some, mentioned to the sales guy that some of her handles were loose. They said send them back..she did and they sent her new knives... 30 something years after she first bought them.

Re: Please recomend your cutlery set

i bought a couple of them b/c my mom swears by them.

please go on the pampered chef website and look in the outlet section. you will find some,

don't spend the $$ on the dumb block, you can get one at marshalls or some other discount store. break up the pieces and get them one by one, or host a party. that's what i did.

but, yes, my mom is a cook and LOVES these knives.

Thank you for the advice! Im so glad to hear your mother loves them. They seem like such great knives.

I actually did host a show and I did it this month solely because the host special was the knives so I think I get like 2 of them for 60% off which is nice.

good! ask her about what kind of discount you get, if any, for outlet items.

I haven't used them yet, they are packed away until i move in to our home.

I have a really nice set of Henkels that we registered for (otherwise I never would have spent the money). They are really, really great.

I have Victorinox Forschner Knives with a Fibrox Handle. You can pick them up in pieces on amazon.com. I thought I would never use the 10" knife but I use that over the 8" as my everyday knife. I also have the paring knife, bread knife, santoku knife, and carving knife.

My husband picked them for me. You want knives that are high carbon steel. I have heard good things about Global cutlery (Japanese knives which hold an edge longer). Other popular knives used by professional chefs include: Shun and Misono knives.

Caution to those who buy Henkel knives... Henkel Knives > Henkel International Knives.

Lastly it is equally important to get a good sharpening stone.

Re: Please recomend your cutlery set

I like Wustof but love Shun.

The best knives ever.

They are pricey. I now prefer to buy my knives separately not in sets. I find that I use about 3 knives all the time and the rest very infrequently.

You don't need an expensive bread knife. I find I don't need an expensive paring knife or an expensive tomato knife. Moderately prices steak knives are good too.

The money should be spent on a carving, chef's and possibly a santoku.

You will use a chopping knife more than anything else. Put your money into that.
