This may be a long shot, but here goes...(Car related)

I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima. It has great pickup and I love its power (it's a V6 with 265 horsepower. Problem is, I'm getting a little bored and want to upgrade.

I'm looking at the Audi A4 sedan and a BMW 3 Series sedan.

I went to Kelley Blue Book, and saw, however, that the 2010 A4 only has 4 cylinder and 211 horsepower. However, the engine is "turbocharged".

The BMW has a V6 and comparable horsepower to the Maxima, however, I've heard that the 3 Series cars are tiny. I have a 3 year old son, therefore, I'd need to have a carseat in the back.

Here are my questions: #1: Has anyone driven both a Maxima and an A4? If so, how do they compare as far as power and the way they ride?

I am going to test drive the A4 on Monday, but was just wondering if anyone had any insight on this.

#2: Anyone have a BMW 3 Series sedan and have a carseat in the back? Is it a tight squeeze?

Any answers or info I could get on these cars would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks! Chat Icon

Re: This may be a long shot, but here goes...(Car related)

Yeah, I know both are smaller, but I also heard that the Audi A4 isn't AS small as the BMW.

Usually when we travel together as a family, we are in DH's car anyway, so having DS in the car isn't THAT much of a concern, as most of the time I'm driving, it's driving alone to work.

For the few times I run errands and take my car, I just need something that can accomodate a carseat and not be "crammed" if you know what I mean?

We just got the Acura TL.

It is beautiful, powerful, and about as much as the A4 or 3 series. It is bigger, the TSX (which I had before) is smaller and also an awesome car. Chat Icon

ETA: I just read about the car seat. We went with the TL over the 3 series or the C class Mercedes for this reason, it is bigger and more room for car sear and all the other baby gear Chat Icon

I'm really not crazy about Infinity.

I've always LOVED Audi and BMW, and never really thought to look at Lexus. I'll have to check it out.

I have a BMW 5 series and it is a tight squeeze in the back seat. Sorry, for a family vehicle, I would recommend staying away from the BMW. Also, I don't find the 3 series to be THAT peppy, considering the power distribution.

I think I looked at the TL, and it was more than I wanted to spend. I'll have to look that up again. Thanks!

I recommend Paragon Acura in Queens, we got a fair price. I think it was around the same as a 3 series Chat Icon

did you look at the new mercedes C300?

I was not a fan out of the old C Class but the new one is much better

I got a sick deal on my new ML350

3% interest, 2 months payments made, and they took about $5K off the invoice

I forgot- we had my BF god-daughter in the A4- she was fine in her car seat in the backseat

I was back there with her- there was plenty of room

I've driven the A4 quite a bit- my dad had one- and I used it at work.. honestly for the price of the car, I didn't think it was great- it did have "get up and go" but I found when the car was idling- say at a traffic lite- it felt like a darn cement mixer!

Totally agree about the Acura.

We drove the Audi, the BMW and the Mercedes and thought the Acura was better and roomier. Lots of power.

We also drove the Maxima and loved it but we get tired of our cars too that's why we lease.

I liked the BMW the least.

Well, Infiniti is owned by Nissan so at least you would know what you were getting. My family has had numerous Infiniti's over the years and never had any problems. I do have several friends who would not recommend an Audi to save their lives. A girl I went to HS with, her Audi broke down on the way home from the dealership.

Good Luck with it. What color did you get? V6 or turbo 1.8? Did you get the extended warranty? I recommend that you do. What dealer did you buy from?

Thanks! I got Meteor Gray, which is a very dark gray, with black interior. They don't make 2010 A4's with V6, so I have 2.0 Turbo. I went to Huntington Audi and dealt with a really great guy there. I am definitely getting the extended warranty! Chat Icon
