Swimming while dilated?

Is it okay to go swimming in the ocean while dilated? Everything I have read says it is okay as long as your water hasn't broken. I'm waiting for the OB to call back, just curious what you all think...

Definitely ask the OB, but I think the rule is not once your water has broken.

My dr. actually told me to avoid swimming and baths for the last 4 weeks for this exact reason...definitely call and see what they say!

The only thing is you wont know if your water breaks if you are in water!! See what your OB says.

Re: Swimming while dilated?

I asked my OB about this & she said that swimming is fine until your water breaks. They do tell you to avoid public pools though (so the ocean might apply) bc of the possibility of bacteria & in case your water does break.

They tell you if you are swimming or floating, make sure you monitor yourself when you get out to see if your water has broken.
