How do you kiss DC? (with poll)
I received pics from a friend who just had a new grandchild born this weekend. In them, there is a shot of the mom kissing her 3 year old on the lips...it struck ME as odd. I kiss my DCs on the cheeks and save lip kisses for DH! So...I just wondered what others thought/do...
Again, I am not judging how anyone shows affection toward their child, this just seemed strange TO ME.

I kiss DS all over. His cheeks, lips, feet and even his cute chubba thighs. I see nothing wrong with it. To each his own.

My 3 year old lately will come up to me and kiss me on the lips. My 4 year old prefers kisses on the cheek or forehead.
But to answer the question I'll kiss them pretty much anywhere, lips included.

I kiss her anywhere. Kaydyn just started giving kisses on command and I love them so I make her kiss me all the time  I kiss her wherever though, lips, cheeks, arms, feet...everywhere.

I kiss them everywhere - on their cheeks, arms, legs, fingers, toes.....
I don't remember ever kissing them on their lips though.....

not a mommy yet, but i feel very strongly about lip kisses.
HSV 1 (cold sores - a form of herpes) is transmitted through contact - even if the person doesn't currently have an active sore. I've suffered from cold sores since I was a little kid, and this is how I got the virus.
No one will be kissing my child on the lips - not mommy, daddy, or anyone else.

I kiss my child on the lips, no tongues though. I have never had a cold sore, neither has my child. Lets be honest, if someone is prone to cold sores, or has a whopping great big cold sore on their mouth or nose, they aren't going to kiss a child, or an adult on the lips. People can get cold sores on their hands, eyes nose they aren't limited to the lips. Lifes too short imo.

I did not kiss DS on the lips when he was an infant but I do now. DS will actually only kiss me or DH on the lips.
Nobody else kisses DS on the lips. DS tries to but most people know to turn their face to show their cheek.
I kiss DS everywhere. Lips, cheeks, feet, legs, hands.
I find him way too cute to resist.

When they were little (under 5) - I'd kiss their cheeks and toes and tummies and nose and little lips.. anywhere I could.
Now that they are older, I take what they give me. Noah still puckers up for a peck on the lips.. but Robbie is more reserved and generally gives me hugs and kisses my cheek. Sometimes he gives me a smack on the lips.. but it's pretty rare these days.

Same here - but I don't go to kiss her on the lips - I do go to kiss her on the cheeks, forehead etc. DD on the other hand loves to come over to me grab my face with both of her hands and pulls me to her and gives me a big kiss on the lips.

I never thought I would kiss my child on the lips. To me, it wasn't done in our family. However, my son has seen me kiss my husband on the lips and he has started kissing ME on the lips! It was so sweet and so heartfelt that there was no way I was going to try to change the behavior. He is 13 months now, he started this when he was 11 months. To me, it is such a sweet and innocent expression of love that it makes me melt.
