The ultimate boy rite of passage
Well, I no longer have a little boy anymore, sad to say... I have a tiny little Spiderman.
What IS it about Spiderman and little boys??????
Last night I had to work late, so DH took Cailen to Blockbuster to rent a DVD - of course, they somehow wound up in the Spiderman section and Cailen saw the 3rd movie cover and went nuts.
DH said he was glued to his lap watching it all night (he told me very proudly )
Now, all morning, Cailen keeps zapping me with his fingers, webbing me, and (and this part I had to firmly redirect our little superhero) giving me roundhouse kicks  I told him that there will be NO kicking in this house or Spiderman will find his little red butt in time out 
No chance this kid will be a sensitive poet strumming a guitar someday, is there????

I haven't seen a boy yet who didn't like Spiderman, and between DS's classmates, helping out with karate class, b-day parties, and soccer, I've been around a lot of kids lately.
It often passes.... but then it's replaced with something very similar. Ben 10, Transformers, Wolverine, etc....

Oh transformers are the bomb here too. He loves bumblebee and optimus prime!! He pretends to be a "bobot" all the time!

Just be careful with nightmares, b/c after our night last night, I am going to monitor what Christopher watches now, you know?

Within the last month all DS talks about is Spiderman, Peter Parker and BATMAN! And EVERYONE is a Superhero!!! It's hillarious!

He loves these movies - he has already seen Transfomers (the 1st one on DVD) and Wolverine in the theater with DH!!! 
So far, the only thing that makes this kid wake up screaming is when someone he is dreaming about does somehting he wanted to do He wakes us yelling "No!!! I DO!!! I DOOOO!"   Awww....

There was a study (and my DS follows the findings), that even young kids can usually tell that movies are make believe, and it doesn't bother them. News, however, is terrifying for young kids, since it IS real, and if it's real, it could happen to their family.
We don't watch the news at our house.... I just read about the news on-line.

Oh God that was Roman last weekend. DH let him watch the first one with the green goblin (totally inappropriate I stated from the get go) and he kept doing roundhouse kicks to Clover. DH then stated, "maybe that wasn't the greatest idea." YA THINK!
DH also bought him the complete PowerPuff Girls Edition. HELLO...he's 3!
