Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

coming over from your xpost on nfr

i've never been to any shower that had assigned seating. everyone pretty much knows that very close family & friends are gonna be around the guest of honor, and everyone else just figures out where to go.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

If there is a lot of people, Im for it. I have been to about 2-3 showers with assigned seating, but both had at least 80-150 people.

We had like 80 people at mine and I wanted to have it, but decided against it and it turned out ok.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

IMO, I think its great when they have assigned seating at a shower. Espeically if you don't know anyone. You don't want 10 people at one table and 3 at another. We are having assigned seating.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

If there is a TON of people, then I'd say yes. Like my friend is inviting 144 people to her bridal shower Chat Icon Chat Icon THAT needs assigned seating but normal showers, I'd say no. I've never been to one that has had one.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

Yes, if it is big. I was at a shower this weekend where they didn't have assigned seating and there weren't a lot of extra seats. Everyone was having trouble finding enough seats for them and their friends/family to sit together.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

Every event I have been to WITHOUT assigned seating has always been very awkward for me - with saving seats and not knowing where to sit.

I say if it is more than 25 people - do assigned seating. My family always does it and I feel that it is always appreciated/

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

Etiquette wise if its over 50 people you should do a seating chart. it makes life easier!

Yes, it's a must IMO if it's over 20 people.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

We had assigned seating at mine and I was happy with it. I know for myself I am usually happy to be told where to sit because either a)If I don't know many people at the shower it makes it way less awkward or b) If I do know lots of other people the host takes it into account and I end up sitting with people I would have chosen to sit with anyways without the awkwardness of trying to count out enough seats.

I've been to both! I've preferred being able to sit where I wanted and with who I wanted.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

We usually do assigned tables in my family, bt my family is HUGE and no shower has been less than 60 people.

Makes it easier, IMO. Chat Icon

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

I don't think its necessary. People usually move around and find places to sit so they can be with friends or family.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

I think it completely depends upon how many guests you are having, where you are having it and if everyone knows everyone else. I think more than 50 people would warrant assigned seating as long as it is not in someones home. My son's bris was at my parents house and there were almost 70 people there. We did not have assigned seating.

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

I'm having about 30 people and I just want to make sure that some that are coming have someone to sit with - if they dont know anyone else - like some friends of mine wont know anyone else...

Re: Assigned seating at a shower?

I say yes to seating arrangements!
I once went to a bridal shower and they didnt have them, people were all over the place, some squishing at one table where other tables werent even close to being full!
I feel much more comfortable knowing where Im supposed to sit
