We also have Kitchenaid ARchitecht appliances and really like them. I am obsessed with our stove because it is a gas stove, but doesn't haev the back part.

I hope ours do not turn to crap, we just bought these(we just built a new home) this is what the salesman highly recommended, and we did no research. ugg, I hope we did not just make a bad investment, and waste our money. dh put me in charge of the appliances.

DH and i started looking and i think we are also going to go with the kitchen aid architect series II appliances...
we are doing an electric stove and i *think* a side by side counter depth fridge - i really wanted french door but we can save some money by going with the side by side....

I strongly recommend a subscription to consumer reports 
every line has good points and bad, and no brand name (barring the super $$$ brands like viking and subzero) has a flawless record across the board...
Also check out online reviews before comitting
HTH!
oh, and for refrigerators, universally, people give the best reviews to ones where the freezer is on the bottom. the side by sides have issues... Mom insisted on getting one for aesthetics, and now she can't put large trays of food into her refrigerator when she has a party

I have the kitchenaid architect 2 series
in stainless steel, they work amazing!
i have 9 of their appliances and they are all great!

I am taking delivery on GE's Cafe Series fridge, and dishwasher (very similar to the profile but different handles and a professional look) and a Wolf Stove and Hood (not inexpensive, but was a splurge ) on Friday. I can't wait. We have had them on order since November!!
