Sit and stand...do I need one?

Im slowly starting to go through things and pick some things up and Im really torn about whether or not Ill need the sit and stand....

Rj will be 3yrs 9 months when DS#2 is born and he hasnt used the stroller in forever...

Im thinking the only time I would ever NEED the SAS is for long trips (to the mall, outlets, amusement park etc...) and Im not sure how many of those Ill be doing solo anyway...then again- I have no experience being a mom of 2- so what do I know

Chat Icon

I can't see even getting Rj to sit (or stand) in it... Mr.Independent wants to be freeChat Icon

So before I go and spend 100+ on this thing... do you think I really need it?

Have you checked out Melissa's? I think it is great, it isn't that much longer than my Metrolite and I think it is the same width, so if you are debating, I would just get it. They are very reasonable!

I am going to say no. I have a double and honestly have no idea when I am going to use it. I guess if we go to the zoo or something but rarely. And I never go to the mall or anything so I won't need it then.

I am going to just use the frame thing for the carseat (my mom found one at the thrift store brand new for $15) and hold his hold. He is pretty good about holding my hand.

I checked out the one at BRU...

We connected a carrier to it, and had Rj stand in the back, and I felt it was light, but had terrible "handle/steering".

Im just going to be home all summer, and know Im going to want to get out and do things.. (like shopChat Icon ) and the thought of doing 2 by myself, and 1 of the 2 being "loose" scares meChat Icon

I will add- that even the 10 min we spent playing with it in BRU- Rj was trying to climb off and out...

I was TOTALLY thinking the same thing. If you think you need it for long trips maybe find one on CL or from here. I cant see you spending 100+ on something he most likely wont sit in.

Right??? because then Im thinking- where the he ll am I going to keep this thing...

I have a nice big truck with trunk space... but to keep the travel system AND the sit and stand back there- seems like sooo much...

Im also into slings and carriers- so assuming the new baby is into them as wellChat Icon I will always have that as an option...

Re: Sit and stand...do I need one?

Michael is 2 1/2 years old and with #2 coming in 4 weeks, I thought about this too and we decided that we did not need one. Michael is good about holding on and holding hands. If we somewhere (the mall, zoo, etc.) we can just take DD carriage & Michael's stroller.

ITA! I didn't need one for Julia cause she hates being in the stoller, so I got the snap and go and she just walks next to me, if I'm out with DH he puts Julia in her umbrella stroller and Todd Jr goes in his one.

Re: Sit and stand...do I need one?

I got the SAS on clearance at target my DD will be 3 and a few months when DD is born. I know when DD #1 sees D#2 in the stroller she will want to be in it too. Its just the way they are. So I bought it and will probably leave it in my SUV when needed. DD will go in stroller now because she knows I will let her out when she wants she isnt trapped in there.

Re: Sit and stand...do I need one?

I bought a SIS in October b/c I thought it would make my life easier. My DS was 3 years 8 months and my DD was almost 1 1/2. My son loved it...loved sitting and standing on the back. My daughter hated it!!! She hated that her brother was on "her" stroller and all she wanted to do was stand on the back of it.

I think if I got it when she was a baby and did not know any better it would have been perfect.

I know have a SIS elite in my garage that has only been used 4 times...for very short periods.

both my older 2 like to get up and walk...even at the mall. Many times it's only the baby in the double stroller.

think twice!

I absolutely loved mine and used it all the time. Everywhere. But m y son was just two when #2 came along. I always had to strap him in (there is a strap on the jumpseat) and it really helped.

However, by the time he hit 3-3.5, I found myself using the umbrella stroller for Lauren and he walked. By age 4, it wasn't used that much. I did get 2 years out of it.

I would think for RJ's age, I'd skip it, unless you wanted to get one second hand - in which case, I'd offer to sell mine Chat Icon

I agree. My DS was just 2 when DD arrived and I needed it a lot then and had to strap him in, but now that he is just about 3, I find that he wants to walk more and I can trust him more to stay next to me. I think at RJ's age when the baby comes along you won't really need it.

I'm going to say no. I can count on one hand the times I have used mine. Although it did come in handy those times, I don't think it was worth it. You can borrow mine if you have a special trip to make with them Chat Icon
