What are your thoughts on Hauppauge?

Hauppauge is nice. The schools are good and its centrally located. In addition, the taxes are low due to all of the industry in the town.

I used to live in Hauppauge. I was still in high school when my parents moved there but I never went to any of the Hauppauge Schools. Our house was gorgeous and the neighborhood was nice but my mom hated it and could not wait to move.
The area we lived in was North of the expressway and south of 347, 111 was east of us. The traffic if you had to go anywhere between 4-7 was awful. My mom said she felt like she lived in a parking lot while we were there. Our street itself was not busy at all but going to the store for a quick run was never quick. My mom really missed the convience of Main Street. My parents moved after about 6 years and are back to the south shore, where they left in the first place.

One of my best friends lives there - it's REALLY nice! Her neighborhood is really cute. If it wasn't so far, I would have considered it!

My best friend grew up in Hauppauge but went to Smithtown schools. It is a great area! My Dad is a real estate agent who services the area and is an LIF vendor. Look up his contact info at McKnight Realtors.

that sounds like exactly where the house is we are interested in.

Hauppauge is divided in three school districts - Happauge S.D., Smithtown S.D. and Central Islip S.D. So be aware of district you are looking in when you look at houses. Happague SD has lower taxes because of the industrial park.

You may want to consider Commack if you want the Hauppauge SD. I just moved to PA but lived in Commack with the Haupaauge SD. Low taxes!
