DBQ
I'm not the S.S teacher but as the 5th grade ELA teacher I was told I should practice DBQ's with the students to better prepare them for the state S.S. test.
I have no idea where to start. Can someone help me. Thanks!

It is really easy to make your own DBQ's to give to your class as practice. Use google image search. They have any picture possible. Save it to your computer, paste it into a word processor document, and write your own questions. I've made many this way.

I also have several DBQ books to help prep them in 4th grade.
Id talk with the SS person.... you can also use old tests if the SS person is not.

I agree, it's pretty easy...think graphs, charts, maps, political cartoons, quotes, newspaper articles.

also, you need to teach them how to write a multi-paragrph essay. the SS teacher will do the political cartoons, etc. you need to help them extend it into 5 paragraphs.

Thank you! This is what I needed to hear. I was so confused on how I was teaching SS stuff when they already have a SS teacher (I thought I had to do the political cartoons etc.) Now I understand and feel better prepared.
