Checking if you are registered to vote
How do you check if you are registered to vote? The last time I voted was in 2005, b/c I moved overseas after that. I will be in NY for some time in October and November and would like to vote over there. How do I check that I can vote while I am there? My address change was never really reported and I still have my NY license.

I don't know how you check, but I just got our voter registration cards in the mail and mine has my maiden name on it so I have to figure out how to change that. I'll be interested to find out any info too!! I swore I changed it at the DMV when I had my name changed on my license, but apparently it didn't go through

OK, so I found my name and the address is the same as last time I voted, so that means I can vote and I don't have to re-register or anything?

I couldn't remember if I had changed my address or not since I moved last, so I had to look myself up also. I'm glad they made it so easy.

mine says that too i'm thinking it has to do with the fact that i haven't voted in a while, when was the last time you voted
eta where does it say how to change your name i never did that either when i got married
eta okay i found it but there is no address for kings county and i lve in brooklyn

Call your County Board of Elections. They will tell you if your registration is current or not and will tell you how to get an absentee ballot. I wouldn't trust the state's site. Might be out of date.

Last time I voted was 2006 or 2007. Can't remember. I'm registered to vote in Suffolk but live in Queens, so I didn't want to vote for something or someone I wasn't in the community of anymore, kwim.
