It's a shame what's happened to this post. Just yesterday I felt such a great amount of pride for all of the support we were showing for the geese. I was happy to see that there were so many others like me out there who feel that no innocent species should be subjected to such horrific behavior. It also made me feel good about being an LIFer.

Today I'm just annoyed. This thread has turned into a barrage of accusations against the witness, who is only trying to do what he feels is best.

Thank you to all of the people who are sticking up for tbrown and for the poor geese.

I think the fact that someone requested this thread to be pulled because of the possibility of a lawsuit speaks volumes.

This wasn't just about geese it was a complete case of pulling someone through the mud. I just stated that until the investigation is done I'm not going to go out of my way to ruin someone. Some of the actions some people took on this thread were laughable.

You just reminded me why I rarely come on here.

Does it matter how bug or mold gets into salads & sandwiches?

If you heard that some place you ate at regularly had a huge bug in a sandwich or mold on a salad, would you still want to go there?

I heard about a cockroach in a salad at a salad place near where I work. THat was 2 years ago & I still won't go there. I know these places have bugs, but I don't have the stomach to go to to place that has them in the food - even accidentally.

Mold is a supplier issue - but that's why you get your produce from a GOOD supplier & check your stock.Chat Icon

I wouldn't eat at a place with bugs either. It wasn't the fact that they had bugs in the food. I had mentioned that I thought some stuff in this thread was funny and I thought someone saying this guy was planting bugs in someone's breakfast on purpose was a bit ridiculous. If you know of any places i should avoid though let me know Chat Icon .

I was told a long time ago that Beefsteak Charlies kitchen, the manager would take uneaten food from one diner and put it on another plate to go out. Of course it was only a witness's statement (my sister).

Other than that I heard Breaktime Deli has a great lunch - sandwiches full of protein and salads with medicinal flavoring. Oh and Macaroni Grill was amazing until they lost their top waitress.

He SHOULD absolutely be shut down...and locked up in my opinion. Let people know the trash that this guy actually is. I could care less. Anyone who intentionally hurts or kills any animal deserves to get all the bad press that this guy is getting. I am very happy that this was posted and that there was such an overwhelming response to it. I am happy that the media was contacted about it. It is time to stop ignoring things like this and start taking action.

ITA with this, I'm so happy this was posted and I hope his actions hit him right where it hurts in his pockets since someone who could do this has no conscience!!!!

This is a little bit of a tangent but...

To me, the irony in all of this is if this guy gets prosecuted for this (which may or may not happen - even if he did do it as the only evidence is one eyewitness account) is that he would be penalized (rightly so in my belief) for something the State of New York does relatively often.

NY has had Canadian geese exterminated several times (for example: Rikers island in 2004). The UK routinely does this over Heathrow. I just think it presents an interesting questions of hypocrisy on the side of the gov't if they do prosecute.

In all honesty, as an attorney, I really cannot see him being found guilty and penalized for this - it would be a really difficult case.

I somewhat agree with you. however, barreling into the geese with your car is not exactly the same as euthanasia.

Exactly. If one has to put a pet down, they don't opt to run it down with their car instead. Very very different.

What I do find disheartening is that even if he is found guilty, the punishment for cruelty to animals is next to nothing. I really think that the protection laws need to be strengthened and enforced much more than they are.

It is so sad that this thread has come to this. I can only hope that people continue to come on here and gain support for anyone who mistreats an animal. Don't be scared to stand up for them because of a few vocal ,opinionated people.

gain support for someone who mistreats an animal? Chat Icon

I'm just reading this thread now and I honestly don't think anyone is condoning the person's ACTIONS.. I think MJ made an excellent point regarding the validity of the story... It ignited a healthy debate... but I don't think ANYONE would agree with the accused's actions... should the investigation prove them to be true.

I mean, we don't know tbrown. We don't know how trustworthy they are... just like the way we treat people who seem like Chat Icon what makes this different. what IF it was someone who had something against the owner of the deli and concocted this plan.. who KNOWS... (I personally don't believe that) but you never know... So what if someone questions it... I respect their right to.

The gov't is exterminating them because they believe them to be a nuisance. While their death may be a little more "humane" I do not think it is all that different.

Anyone can have an opinion. What I don't understand is if you don't like that people are supporting something why not just stay out of it? There are many people on this site who love to start drama with their "opinions". I personally applaud the OP and evryone who has done anything in favor of helping these animals.

Two of us actually DO KNOW tbrown...as we've stated earlier. As long time posters, we both vouched for him and can state that he neither has a vendetta against the deli owner nor is he a liar. As a friend and coworker of his, I believe his story is 100% true.

I don't think it's right for you to assume because someone questions the validity of a story... or disagrees with the way people are responding, that they don't LIKE the fact that people are supporting something...

And even so... Why should they? I've learned many things from people who had differing opinions... Like I said, MJ made a good point...

There are many people on this site who love to start drama with their "opinions".

Again-- assuming. It's easy to pronounce someone as looking for drama when they disagree with you or question something...innit? Some people are more vocal than others... Some are more honest and don't cower when their opinion may be an adverse opinion... If someone was just out for DRAMA, their point wouldn't make sense to the topic at hand... I think MJ's was.

I always see Goobster in heated debates, do you think SHE is just out for drama? I don't... I just see her as strong in her beliefs and views, and not afraid to challenge someone.

And by your logic, if people are afraid to post something in support of something because of a *few vocal opinionated people* then shouldn't people who have a differing view be afraid to comment simply because they might be accused of *gasp* starting drama?!

I personally applaud the OP and evryone who has done anything in favor of helping these animals.

I do too... however, I can understand the need for questioning the validity of the story since it changed and was edited. When I first read it, I saw a whole family of geese (about 20?) then changed to 2 dead... It was confusing. Like I said, I don't doubt that tbrown was telling the truth... I commend him for doing the right thing instead of just ignoring what he witnessed..

Regardless, I don't think anyone was condoning what happened to these geese. It was the REACTIONS of some that had a few people questioning whether or not this was the right action... for NOW.

I hope that if this *deli owner* truly meant to hurt those geese, that he gets what he deserves...

I was just saying that as an example... I just think the people who were *questioning* were just reacting to OTHER people's reactions, if that makes sense.

I hope tbrown keeps us updated on the investigation (what he can disclose of course...)

I never changed the story, I said he aimed at around 20 geese, and that 2 were killed. Never said 20 were killed. This post is so long no one even knows who's saying what anymore.

Just drop it. When I have more info on anything I'll post it. Everybody is entitled to their opinion so no reason to get upset over any of it.

Sorry tbrown, but I just replied to this post YESTERDAY (as I have been away) and I just wanted to comment back to what was commented to me. Just the way it goes on these boards, I'm afraid...

Maybe I'm crazy and I appreciate you claifying but for some reason I remember the original post saying a family of geese were killed. I apologize if I was wrong.

good luck with everything.
