IVF girls- PIO question for you !
Tomorrow I will be 10 weeks...My RE told me just to finish out my PIO which will probably last me another 2 days or so....Should I be weaning off this stuff ?...I'm afraid of going cold turkey being as my progesterone is no longer being monitered regularly with the OB...They never said to cut down the dose gradually or anything, just me thinking and wondering what experiences you have all had after stopping it...Thanks

i don't know if i will be much help, but i had to use progesterone support but did not have ivf. i stopped at 10 weeks, right whe the placenta takes over. no weaning or anything.

I did wean-went from 1CC to 1/2 CC for a week at my Dr's instruction.

My RE told me I could stop right after my 2nd sonogram when I was released at 7 1/2 weeks. I told her I was scared and she told me to finish the bottle I had. I am now 9 weeks and I still have at least a few more days left. I explained to my regular Doctor I was a little worried and she sais she can give me a progesterone pill by mouth and to continue the suppositories until 14 weeks. If you're concerned I would let your Dr. know. It doesn't hurt to continue. I have a friend who had her shots until 12 weeks.

Thanks to everyone for all your responses !.....I have a sono tonight and I'm going to mention it to the OB and see what his take is- Never knew there was oral progesterone, thats sounds much more appealing than the suppositories or shots

I also weaned off of it around 10 weeks and stopped at 12.
