their toasted coconut ice cream is to die for!
as for chains, pre-preggo it was maggie moo's.... but now that I'm with Crouton, I am quite enamoured with carvel chocolate flying suacers

Coyle's in Bay Shore/Brightwaters. Their banana split cake is ridiculous and the place itself is too cute to handle. They have a new store in East Islip too.
I love Coyle's too, but I'm biased because my brother and SIL work there, and the Islip store is within walking distance of my apartment.
I always get soft vanilla ice cream, peanut butter sauce and chocolate crunchies.

ITA! Although, I am not a huge fan of Carvel.
Baskin Robbins is better.
