Christmas Gifts for teachers...

So I know it is kind of early, but I like to get a head start. What is a good dollar amount to spend on your DC's preschool teacher?

How many teachers are there? If there's one or two maybe do $20 each? I think that's a generous gift.

Re: Christmas Gifts for teachers...

thanks so much for the help! I was going to get 25 each to Starbucks, but maybe I will do $20 for each teacher. I should make it $40 each since I have twins, right?

I am a teacher and I wouldn't expect a big "double" gift like that. Don't get me wrong, I think it's VERY nice but that's a lot of money for 1 family IMO. So between the 2 teachers you'd end up spending $80. Pretty steep...I think. $25-$30 each would be awesome.

I wouldn't "double" it. Maybe just do $25 instead of $20.

Re: Christmas Gifts for teachers...

I am a teacher and many of my students' families are of limited means, however they are incredibly generous to me at holiday time. Frankly, I become uncomfortable with gifts that are excessive.

HOWEVER, one year I had the nurse at my school ask me what my bra size was. The mother of one of my students only spoke spanish and needed the nurse to translate. It seems she sold lingerie (that fell off of the back of a truck) and wanted to give bras to all of his teachers and therapists. I got myself a beautiful bra! NO JOKE. I was a tough fit back then so it was appreciated. Chat Icon

Sort of a spinoff, do you give the same amount to the assistant teacher? I was thinking $20 for the assistant, $25 for the main teacher plus some stickers b/c she's constantly giving out stickers to the kids and it must get costly for her.

i'm also a teacher and don't think you should double the $$ for twins. i do love getting gc though. i like all the above mentioned but also like a gc to the mall and to barnes and nobles (which usually goes back to teaching stuff anyway.)

Re: Christmas Gifts for teachers...

I just got an email from DD's class mom. They are collecting $25 for the teacher and $15 for the assistant to the teacher.
