OH MY! (what i heard on my monitor!)

we have 2 monitors for ds (yes i'm a wacko) we have a video monitor and the angel care sensor monitor. well we've heard another baby on the angelcare monitor once or twice so we just switched channels but this morning i shut the base off in ds's room and went into my room where the receiver is and i heard 2 women talking! i heard and listen too Chat Icon ) a full conversation, it was as if i was in the middle of their house! i know the lady has a baby girl named sara, 2 older boys, a dog and backyard, etc.. it was so freaky! i know i shouldn't have listened but i wanted to try to figure out who it was, so we could possibly keep on our own channels but i have no clue who it could be.
i'm glad i only use the monitor when ds is sleeping and there is nothing anyone can hear on my end...besides crying and maybe me singing to ds.Chat Icon yikes!

Re: OH MY! (what i heard on my monitor!)

When we were packing for FL (and bringing our monitor with us) we had unplugged the base in her room but hadn't taken the monitors out of the living room or our bedroom yet. We heard another baby crying ---- REALLY bad. It was an older child too because they were calling for Mommy and Daddy. We left it on for a few minutes because the baby seemed hysterical and we wanted to make sure someone came and got them----and after about 15 minutes we turned it off because noone had come for the baby and it was upsetting Emily.

It makes me sad to know that someone local, maybe even someone I know, would leave their baby cry for that long. The baby sounded so miserable.

yep - always shut your base when not in use. One night - I heard my son coughing all night and was like wow - surprised he hasn't cried. Next morning I hear my son talking but yet my son didn't talk yet so kept listening until we finally realized which house I was picking up - it was hysterical. Of course DH always had to try to listen to what else he could hear - he'd try it out every weekend...lol.

Twenty years ago, when they were a lot more primitive than now, I was babysitting and overheard a suspicious phone conversation over the baby monitor. Something along the lines of, Yeah, have the cash ready and I'll run out with it. Turns out a neighbor was dealing drugs out of his home (and this was a nice area) and the monitor was picking up the cordless phone conversationsChat Icon I had to tell the parents.

Re: OH MY! (what i heard on my monitor!)

When my DD was like 3 months, we inadvertently put the monitor in the kitchen on the wrong channel (we have the Angelcare too) after she went down for her morning nap. About 10 minutes later we heard a child singing a lullaby...I looked at DH like 'what the heck???', then we realized what had happened! It was freaky!! Chat Icon

This type of thing used to happen to me when my eldest was young..13 years ago. IT WAS CRAZY..I never could figure out who the big partier was.

Re: OH MY! (what i heard on my monitor!)

You girls are too funny!!
I get my neighbor/friend on my monitor. Sometimes when I call her, I put on my monitor to her channel to see if she is telling me the truth about the baby sleeping or something else.

HEY you never know.
Her monitor is ALWAYS on.

Re: OH MY! (what i heard on my monitor!)

I heard my neighbor's baby clearer than I heard my own baby through the monitor. It got me thinking that if I can hear them so clear, they probably could hear me...so I diconnected the monitor and packed it away. I'm a light sleeper and hear the slightest noices.
